Odd But Interesting Movie - "After Earth"

Will and Jaden Smith (2013)
I never really liked this movie ... Will played
too much of a hard-ass and Jaden isn't THAT good
of an actor.
Synopsis : Many thousands of years in the future the
exhausted Earth is all but forgotten. Humans have
long since colonized distant worlds - and had survival
battles there.
Junior wants to be a Space Ranger, but, at least
at 15, can't quite make the cut. Dad is THE Space
Ranger, Mr. Hard-Ass. Impossible to live up to.
Crash.
Dad is badly injured.
Earth has sort-of regenerated during the gap, but
is populated by lots of VERY hostile animal species
and the air is all but unbreathable.
Junior has to go on a journey to retrieve life-support
stuff and communicate with friendlier worlds. He isn't
really up to it.
The interesting, creepy, bit here is how Dad tries
to micro-manage/instruct Junior as he makes his
dangerous journey. REALLY comes across as a total
authoritarian asshole. How NOT to encourage yer
own son. If you like Will Smith you WON'T like
his incarnation in this film.
