A resurfaced clip of Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek
Ramaswamy explaining that he doesn't believe Jesus is 'the'
son of God could further imperil the Republican's prospects.
He's locked in a tight general election race with Democrat
Amy Acton, despite Ohio voters not elevating a Democrat to
the governor's mansion in 20 years.
Recent polls show Ramaswamy and Acton trading leads, within
one point of one another, well within the surveys' margins
of error.
The former presidential hopeful also has attracted a Republican
primary challenger, with voters heading to the polls next week.
Ramaswamy is Hindu and, as a 2024 presidential candidate,
was filmed talking to an Iowa voter about his religious beliefs.
. . .
I'd give him a 99.9999% chance of being right.
It's all just another, of SO many, 'demigod' tales.
Those DO tend to resonate in the human brain however,
hence so many.
Sorry, no phone cameras to document anything back then.
Outside his narrow circle, Jesus was considered an
enlightened prophet, a compassionate rabbi, but not
'divine'.
But the "GOD SAYS !" thing does, as noted, add gravitas.
So, the tale was embellished.
I guess all that peace and love and salvation stuff
didn't last very long, based on what the same god
told Mohammad. Back to fire and blood and chopping
off heads .....
Alas, people still take their religions VERY seriously
and the Ramaswamy take won't play well in the USA any
more than 'Mohammad was a fake' would play well in Iran.
