WASHINGTON u President Trump launched his counter assault to a decision
by the major TV networks to boycott his White House events u Trump TV.

Labeling it as oessentialo television, the presidential network launched Monday evening.

oTRUMP TV IS STREAMING NOW. 24/7, updated in real time, with top past
moments, announcements, and the latest and greatest from the
administration all in one place. Not every big moment has made it on
your tv, now it can,o the administration wrote.

Its first broadcast was a speech Trump gave on July 3rd at Mount
    Rushmore.

The Trump TV rollout topped a long day of escalating fights with the
media u a battle that has no end in sight.

The five TV networks u CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox News u that
distribute footage of presidential events to the rest of the press corps
and outlets around the world, launched the first grenade when they
announced the service was suspended until further notice, citing the
White House ban on CNN, MSNow and Politico.

The major networks pointedly didnAt air President TrumpAs ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday afternoon, when he officially opened the new
presidential helipad before he departed for a two-day trip to New York.

oThe public has a vital interest in receiving accurate, independent information about its government. No administration should restrict a
news organization because it objects to its reporting,o read a joint
statement from ABC News, CBS News, CNN, Fox News Media and NBC News, the
five White House television pool members.

The White House aired the ceremony on its own social media channels but
Marine One, sitting on the helipad behind the president with its engine
on, was so loud that TrumpAs remarks could not be heard.

However, a few networks did air some of President TrumpAs news
conference later in the day with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

oItAs interesting because they said where they were going to boycott me,
but they never boycott me, so I wasnAt very worried about that,o Trump remarked of the coverage. oLook at all that press,o he added, gesturing
to the multitude of reporters outside of Gracie Mansion.

The standoff between the president and the media escalated throughout
the day. Several print newspapers u including The New York Times and the Washington Post u announced they would not publish photographs of the president taken by still photographers until after midnight in a show of solidarity with the TV networks.
