    Independent journalism isnrCOt about trying to appease all sides of the political spectrum: itrCOs about speaking truth. And in particular, speaking truth to power. If what journalists are saying annoys those in power, then that suggests they must be doing something right.

    As the saying goes: everybody is entitled to their own opinions, but they
    are not entitled to their own facts.

    Again, this is not a controversial idea in countries which do better with freedom of the press than the US does.
