ThererCOs something different about poetry written late at night, when the distractions are gone and ordinary thoughts start taking unexpected turns. Do you find that your best lines come at a particular time of day, or does inspiration arrive whenever it feels like it?

I can't focus on complex constructive tasks when I'm not reasonably clear-headed, but I've definitely had times of half-waking in the early
morning with a strong *image* in mind and an accompanying mood. If I'm
really lucky, I'll actually *remember* by the time I'm properly awake
    :/
