The SuSE repository infrastructure is managed pretty badly. According
my experience, they use a completely stupid round robin mechanism,
pointing to servers around the world. I often can see here Russian(!) servers.

Therefore, first thing I always do, is to replace all download.suse.orgThat's fine.
URLs with fast "direct" URLs located nearby for each repository.
