Is any one working on the code to move the tabs to the bottom so they
are associated with the open windows.

After every new version we have to put up with the tabs in the
inconvenient location until the patch is published to put the tabs back
    in the proper location.

Is there any indication of the version number under which this will be released? So I don't accidentally updated to that version.

Tabs are separated from the associated windows by stuff you don't need
when you have multiple windows open which I do frequently

Or is there any way to get only security updates and opt out of all
these whiz-bang new features that are ... what's the phrase? More
    trouble than they're worth.

I'm pretty sure the answer to my question is No, but I'd be delighted
    to find out I'm wrong.

You can turn off all updates but I don't think you can only get the
security updates sans the wiz-banger crap. I think it's all-or-nothing.

It seems to be something that no devs want for reasons known best to themselves. I have a userChrome.css file in my (default)/chrome folder
to deal with this. That is, until the devs deactivate css files. :-(

You might be interested to know that in the "infinitely customisable"
Vivaldi browser, tabs on the bottom - where they should be - are also
not an option! Once again, a css file is required to put them there.

Can you show us a picture, with arrows identifying the separated items ?

    I see
    | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Highlighted-Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab

    +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
    | |
    ... Highlighted Tab page |

    +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

I checked in version 150 and it's the same.

Are you claiming that a Highlighted-Tab is showing up in a different window ?

    I see

The way the programmers want Firefox -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Highlighted-Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | **Tab** | Tab | Tab
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Select-able icons Address Window ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |**Window with page** -------------------------------------------------------------------------

The logical arrangement with multiple tabs. Once I have opened the tabs
I want to see the Tab, not the URL. NOTE: I maintain all of the URL'S
for a subject in a folder on the Tab Bar. I have been grouping my URL's
since I realized I could add folder to the Tab Bar ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Select-able icons Address Window -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab |
    Highlighted-Tab | Tab | **Tab** | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab | Tab ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |**Window with page** -------------------------------------------------------------------------

**Tab** when opened with a push of the scowl wheel (or the open all tabs option in the drop down menu) may open 3 to 6 URL's
