The grace period on WinXP installs is 30 days, times two re-arms,
for a total of 90 days.

The grace period on W10/W11 is "infinity".
It runs without a key, forever.
Only the Personalize menu is unavailable.
There will be a watermark in the lower-right corner, but
it is not visible when you first boot into the desktop.

To install W11 on old equipment, you use rufus from rufus.ie web site, and you tick the option boxes when the dialog appears. My 4th generation computer received the "free upgrade" from W10 to W11, and the rufus.ie USB stick preparation
allows the installation to work. The 4930K processor does not have MBEC, and the
command latency (from mouse click to program launch) is ~1 second (which is obnoxious).

OK MASTER.
but what Microsoft think about this use for win OS ?
who can to say W11 it's Free if is a new install without buy it or a new computer ?
ok, with a old computer...the customer have inside a windows licence ! but after ? ok u have a computer, with a trademark...but if someone can
put W11 in a old PC...it's Free !!! no key needed, or no sale needed !
i think, Microsoft is playin a game ! they are all sort iso about the OS !
the people download it, but...download is not buy ! where the middle ?
The OS is not "Free".
But you can install it and it does not freeze up because
there is no license key.
In older times, the OS would do naughty things to annoy you.
It doesn't do that now, because even if the OS was licensed,
it still does annoying things. Paying for it, does not
improve the disposition of Windows.
