• MGA 10: Brave-browser as an alternative?

    Hi everyone,

in MGA10's repo the only useful webbrowser seems to be Firefox.

I can understand that MGA's resources are limited, and updating Chromium
    all time exceeds these limits.

On the other hand, I see in my own webserver logs that Firefox nowadays
plays almost no role any more. Most Linux machines are running Chrome or Chromium, while Mac OS users seem to prefer Safari, but this is another
    thing.

Now I saw that Brave webbrowser is based on Chromium web engine, too -
like Chrome and Edge - and is open source. This project is maintained by
the Brave developers crew, hence, (in my understanding) there is much less effort to expect when it comes to updating this package.

This reminds me of 'yt-dlp'-package, where an abandoned similar project
was replaced with this, which is kept up-to-date by the developers
themselves, and MGA only gets the new sources as is and makes an MGA rpm
    out of it.

Can this be done with Brave webbrowser also?

    Best regards,

    Markus

    I haven't installed "10" yet. I'm holding out
I also hope it still includes Konqueror because that works with Aldi's recharge page

    Hi,

Brave of Chromium as flatpak would probably work, but then you have to
look here and there all time, if there are updates needed to install.

At least one browser based on chromium engine should be included in the official repo. Then, any necessary update will be triggered automatically.

My assumption now is, that Brave is the one browser with chromium engine,
that can be included into MGA (10) repo with the lowest effort.

    Best regards,

    Markus

Gee!! I so want to check this out with my SeaMonkey .... but I topped up
my Aldimobile just yesterday so see no reason to re-do it today.

Or did I actually have to use my FF to top-up??

FF just hangs and hangs and hangs
never returns from the recharge now button
