• MGA v9 updating

    Hello All!

I run MGA v9 and last year also installed Zonin distro on my M.2 SSD that
    also held MGA v9.

It did so and and a quick play rebooted to mga.

Some months back I did an MGA update and reboot and carried using the
system which is up 24/7 as it also runs a BBS service.

Around a week or two ago I run a update again and rebooted but noticed that
it is running 6.6.116 and not the latest 2.2.141 (desktop versions).
So ran via MCC then run build the grub boot system but it fails as it
cannot find the EFI partition (but is on HDD dev/sda). Note I do have other
HDD drives as sdb, sdc and sdd
The ssd is at /dev/nvme0n1p5 and using fdisk -l /dev/nvme0n1 produces :

    Disk /dev/nvme0n1: 931.51 GiB, 1000204886016 bytes, 1953525168 sectors
Disk model: Samsung SSD 990 PRO 1TB
    Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    Disklabel type: gpt
    Disk identifier: 7F4A4E38-FFD7-4AB8-9E92-3A3530D3A074

Device Start End Sectors Size Type
    /dev/nvme0n1p1 2048 4129 2082 1M BIOS boot
    /dev/nvme0n1p2 6144 105476129 105469986 50.3G Linux filesystem /dev/nvme0n1p3 105478144 113864737 8386594 4G Linux swap /dev/nvme0n1p4 113866752 1739882495 1626015744 775.3G Linux filesystem /dev/nvme0n1p5 1739882496 1843578879 103696384 49.4G Linux filesystem /dev/nvme0n1p6 1843578880 1949351935 105773056 50.4G Linux filesystem /dev/nvme0n1p7 1949351936 1949669375 317440 155M Linux filesystem

At the moment I do not know if there is any free space on the ssd to
recreate a EFI but I do not know how to do so as the MCC boot build option
does not offer any such options.

Can I not convince the boot build s/w to use the EFI at sda drive ?

It there any other way of fixing this issue?

At the moment I will have to reboot the system as I am getting a blank
window when trying to run MCC (and other processes) which does indicate I
have a issue with nvidia driver or other related drivers so only fix is to
do a reboot and hope it fixes it :)

    Vincent

The EFI partition must have the code EF00. Within the interactive
gdisk interface, use the following commands:
Type t and press Enter (command to change the partition type).
Type the number of the partition you want to change (e.g.: 2) and
    press Enter.
When the program asks for the hexadecimal code (Hex code), type EF00
    and press Enter.

I have a habit of keeping 3 distributions running on my computer. I like to use grub-customizer to configure the boot.

I don't know why, I always forget about rEFInd.
