• How can I install Mageia 10 properly?

I followed a friendrCOs advice to stick with just one Linux
distribution. IrCOm currently using Mageia 9, but there are some
issues IrCOve never been able to solve.

I tried installing Mageia 10 (Cauldron), since the development
version is where problems are more likely to be
fixed. Unfortunately, I failed after three attempts.

First attempt: I installed Mageia 9 on another partition, updated
it, and ran the following commands:

    # urpmi.removemedia -a urpmi.addmedia --distrib --mirrorlist \
    'http://mirrors.mageia.org/api/mageia.cauldron.x86_64.list' #
    urpmi --auto-update --auto

When I tried to install packages, I got a huge number of messages
    about signature issues.

Second attempt: I downloaded and burned the network installation
ISO. The installer does show Mageia 10 as an option when selecting
a server, but it doesnrCOt proceed any further. Marja van Waes once
gave me a URL to use in the installer, but that didnrCOt work
    either.

Third attempt: I repeated the steps from thefirst attempt but
    skipped running:

    # urpmi --auto-update --auto

When I tried to install packages, I still got errors related to

    package signatures.

I will report the result here.

Any many more problems introduced. That is why it is "Cauldron". It is
an unholy stew bubbling over a witches fire. IF you want to contribute
to Mageia by finding and reporting troubles, use Cauldron. If you want
    to use Mageia, don't.

This is the wrong place to report them. Report them to the
bugs.mageia.org so that the people who are trying to chase down the bugs
have a hope of seeing the bug reports.

When using cauldron before public iso testing has started, you should subscribe to and read
the messages on the dev mailing list. https://ml.mageia.org/l/home

The signature problem has been discussed and has been documented in the wiki https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Cauldron#Upgrade_from_the_latest_stable_release_to_Cauldron_using_urpmi

As cauldron is rather volatile, if you do a network install, check https://pkgsubmit.mageia.org/
to make sure nothing is currently building, then do a very minimal install. You can add more
packages later once you have a working install.

At some point I created an account there. Time passed and the password
was forgotten. It was probably created before I started using the
KeepassXC password manager. There isnrCOt a practical way, like on many
current websites, to recover the password.
