Once again clipgrab has been broken and I went back to my previous
    complaint.
Where David kindly reminded that yt-dlp is a command line program which
    I have successfully used.
    Thank you David
I reminisced, In the good old days the Bit Twister would probably have
had a ready Bash wrapper script to do just that

I have filed a Mageia bug on the situation. I'm sure someone will get to
    it soon.

There is a new yt-dlp available as of just a few days ago. That may fix
    the problem.

It's part of a package, is it not?

    Ah Nope
I have checked with MCC It seems to be stand alone program
It says version 2025.01.26 and indicates it is downloaded

The old one does work but strangely. The downloaded video file only
plays audio unless I run it through ffmpeg.

Clipgrab crashes on me with any Youtube URL before doing much of
anything. Shows a segmentation fault if run from the command line. Works
OK with other URLs, like the Internet Archive.

An update to Mageia's yt-dlp has been tested and passed, and is one step
away from being sent to the mirrors. It lets Clipgrab work with Youtube
    again.

For now. Past experience shows it may only last a few months before it
    has to be done again.

I currently use yt-dlp on command line with the clip address

    eg
    yt-dlp https://www.youtube.com/shorts/1aETDkB9R3Q

It plays back audio only for whatever reason and needs to be passed
    through ffmpeg

    ffmpeg -i youtubeclip.mp4 youtubeclipmod.mp4

It's messy but it does work and it could be scripted

I currently use-a yt-dlp-a on command line with the clip address

    eg
    yt-dlp-a https://www.youtube.com/shorts/1aETDkB9R3Q

It plays back audio only for whatever reason and needs to be passed
    through ffmpeg

    ffmpeg-a -i-a youtubeclip.mp4-a-a youtubeclipmod.mp4

I saw that when I used yt-dlp from the command line during testing. I
thought at the time that it had something to do with the webm container, though vlc should have been able to play it. Could be it was something
Youtube did, and that was why Clipgrab borked. I probably would have
used Handbrake to convert it, because despite over 20 years of using
Linux I'm still more comfortable with a good GUI than the command line.

But, at the moment Clipgrab will handle the conversion of format and/or resolution in just the one step.

I agree! Let's blame Youtube, a nice soft deserving target :-)
