I've noticed that all language english interfaces are installed for Firefox
    CA GB and US.
This may have been my fault selecting them during installation
    Are they all necessary?
would not updating them all break something?
I'm not exactly running out of disk space, just curious

You can unselect the ones you don't need/want, and keep just one language.
In MCC you can uncheck the languages you do not need.

In the installer, if you specify English at the point just before you
see the EULA, then when the time comes to install Firefox, all English versions are installed by default. Unless, that is, you tell it not to
by customizing the install by asking to select or deselect individual packages.

I usually do that, selecting only US English to be installed. But for
those times when I don't do that, I have removed the unwanted language
packs with MCC afterward, with no ill effects.

You can add language packs the same way. There was a bug with Firefox
2-3 years ago, where the Spanish pack wasn't working. To test the update
that fixed the issue, I installed the Spanish pack using MCC, confirmed
the issue existed, then installed the update, and checked again to find
the issue had been fixed. Fortunately, I didn't have to understand
Spanish more than to confirm it wasn't displaying gibberish, as by this
time I had forgotten almost all of what I had learned in high school 50
    years before.

    Thanks to all
It's really only an academic exercise. The language packs got me curious.
The perfectionist would, of course, remove extraneous language packs
