    Hello alt.os.linux.debian!

Does anyone know if there is a newsgroup devoted to MX Linux?
I would like to read one if exists... .

20 years ago MX-Linux was originally called Mepis, the original Mepis
news group sill exist at "a.o.l.mepis" you are welcome to make post
there and talk about MX-Linux or antix.

It seems to be the only alternative since it appears impossible to
    create a new newsgroup.

I tried this back in February.

Before a new Big 8 newsgroup can be created, an RFD (Request For
Discussion) must be posted into the newsgroup news.announce.newgroups,
which is then discussed in news.groups.proposals. Once the proposal has
been formalized with a name, description, charter, the Big-8 Management
Board will vote on whether to create the group. If the proposal is
approved by the Big-8 Management Board, the group is created. Groups
are removed in a similar manner.

I tried it again recently with no results.

Both groups are moderated, and my posts have never appeared.

If I ever have any questions I will ask them in the group you
suggested, but I doubt they will ever be answered.

    how about

    alt.os.linux.mx
    alt.comp.software.MxLinux

it isn't created yet, it isn't big8 either

every OS/app should create one there for its users

BTW how does one create an NG under alt... ?

Data-Denial is the name of the game. Other than friends, family or civil authority (and even for the latter only to the extent necessary for
necessary identification), criminalize the storage of anyone else's
personal data except momentarily in verifiably volatile fashion to
complete a transaction. In the case of all identity abuse including the
above avenues, make the contributing data source criminally complicit
before the law regardless of the employed methods, privacy-policies or
other similar double-speak parading as safeguards.

IMO questions touching on niche Linux distributions are well suited to
existing groups, e.g. comp.os.linux.*. The existing groups are not about
to be overwhelmed by the traffic.

I don't know about the alt groups, but I did ask the guy who created
the Firefox and Thunderbird groups how he did it.

He said he contacted the person in charge of the news server at
aioe.org, that doesn't exist anymore, and was told he had to send out a
control message. He gave him the control message and he sent it out
    and the groups were created.

I may be mistaken, but I believe Andy Burns was the person I talked to.

You can find him in the Firefox or Thunderbird groups, and he might be
able to tell you how to do it.

It looks like you use giganews a paid news server, You might get them
    to create the group.

In comp.os.linux.misc isn't too much traffic, so this should be used
for the discussions instead of splitting them.

Good point. It's when groups fall below a certain daily threshhold that spammers and trolls take it over more easily.
