CentOS is garbage already, it's rolling RHEL. Why care about it?

As far as I know (and that ain't much), the people moved into IBM are
those working with HR, finance, accounting and legal departments and
they will be among those risking to loose their jobs due of general administrative cut downs at IBM.

In theory this shouldn't affect Centos/Fedora, but Rocky and Alma Linux
are there for all those who like to rune the classic Centos.

Centos is gone as far as a distro downstream of RHEL. Centos Stream is upstream of RHEL but downstream of Fedora. The majority of Fedora
developers are not Red Hat employees so I doubt much will change.

Rocky is available if you want to be downstream of RHEL.

Centos is dead and replaced by Rocky. We use ALMA instead, it has at
    least defined EOL's fro planning.

I hope that Fedora stays; as much as I like Debian on the server, the
Desktop solution is less satisfying (for me at least).

I run Debian Unstable on the desktop. Much more frequent updates, but
also you have to keep your wits about you.

Hmmm, fair enough - I should be a bit more specific I guess :-)

I am coming from Centos initially, but after it's "death", I wanted
    something similar.

My DM is MATE and I have it heavily modified on my Fedora system. To be
    blunt, I
may need to spend a bit more time to figure things out, but currently I
    don't have that leisure. .

Initial reason for Debian was SIGNAL messenger not longer available in
    Fedore
(where I swallowed a toad and run it as flatpack).
From a performance point of view, no issues. Also updates are regular (Trixie).
