Holocaust Survivor Dies at 98. In 2020, She Shared 18 Pieces of Wisdom
    With TODAY
    .....
Dr. Edith "Edie" Eger, a Holocaust survivor who endured the horrors of Auschwitz as a teenager and later became a prominent psychologist and
author known for her teachings on resilience and healing, died on April
    27. She was 98.

Her family announced her death on social media.

At 16, Eger, a talented dancer and gymnast who had trained with Hungary's Olympic team, was deported from her home in Hungary to Auschwitz, a Nazi concentration and extermination camp in occupied Poland, where she
witnessed her parents being sent to the gas chambers upon arrival.

"That was my innocence," she recalled in a 2020 interview with TODAY.com.

Eger spent eight months at the death camp where she was starved, beaten
and humiliated by soldiers. She witnessed unspeakable atrocities,
including the sight of a young boy being used for target practice and a
woman in labor with her legs bound shut.
