Aldrich Ames, the former CIA agent turned Russian asset, died in a federal prison in Maryland, according to a Bureau of Prisons spokesperson. He was 84 years old.

Ames was the chief of the intelligence division at the CIA and had access to some of the nation's most damaging secrets.

Specifically, FCI Cumberland, an institution I have driven by many
times, though not very recently. It's medium-security and is home to
that one surviving Somali pirate from that thing they made the movie
of. (Along with all those memes.)

I made an error. It was not Aldrich Ames son that was also spying, it
was another traitor but I don't recall his name.

I saw a news story about someone who got his son to sell info that
turned out to be worthless but the son still went to jail.
