    Jeffrey Roy Holland,president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles (heir-apparent to the church presidency) of the Church of Jesus
    Christ of Latter-day Saints,is back in the hospital:

    The first man born after 1932 to ever get onto the succession ladder,
    he was ordained an apostle in June 1994 on the 84th birthday of Gordon
    B. Hinckley,who then held the position Holland now holds and succeeded
    Church President Howard W. Hunter (1907-1995),who ordained Holland an apostle,the following March.
    The succession to the church presidency of Dallin H. Oaks(born 1932) on
    the death (noted here) of Russell M. Nelson(1924-2025) in late September
    made Holland the next in line,and if he dies First Counselor Henry B. Eyring(born 1933) becomes nominal president of the Twelve by seniority but,since Eyring is a Counselor,the position of Acting President (held
    by Holland from 2023 until Nelson's death since Oaks was a Counselor)
    will be revived and given to Dieter F. Uchtdorf (born in 1940 about
    four weeks before Holland,and Second Counselor to Thomas S. Monson,
    who was president between Hinckley and Nelson...Oaks has chosen David
    Todd Christofferson,who's not even 81 until next month,as Second
    Counselor,but he's 3 rungs after Uchtdorf in succession).

    Clearly his death had been anticipated.
    (He mentioned having spent 3 weeks of a 5-week
    hospitalization in a coma in a speech afterward).
