I realize that the main function of this group is to alert people to the deaths of American showbiz personalities that I haven't heard of, but I think occasionally
one can mention prople who don't fall into that category.

    |edouard Balladur died on 31 August 2026 at the age of 97. He was Prime Minister
of France from March 1993 to May 1995. He was very popular in that role, and was a candidate for President in the election of 1995. He was initially the favourite, but it didn't turn out like that, and over the years he faded from view.

You posted something interesting and on topic. No one who posted about Americans prevented you from doing so.

Please post more often, without complaing about what anyone else posts
on topic. Of course obituaries of French nationals are on topic.

I can get behind even ill-informed snark if it's at least
entertaining. This "athel" fellow didn't clear that bar.

I quick-polled the 22 most recent subject-line-named obits on my
screen, and six of them were "American showbiz personalities" unless
you consider sports "showbiz" (a defensible position), in which case
    add one.

If anything there has been far too much emphasis on "American showbiz personalities".
ANY death is equally on topic, those people just seem to get the most publicity.
