Another woman dead. Another woman critically wounded. And the accused
    shooter is 15 years old.
Detroit police say the teenager opened fire on two women as they entered
a liquor store on East Warren Avenue Friday night. 57-year-old Faith
Williams was killed, and the woman with her was critically injured.
Police hunted the suspect as armed and dangerous and had him in custody
    by Saturday morning.
And this is where people need to stop being afraid of uncomfortable conversations.
Black Americans are being murdered at a devastatingly disproportionate
rate. Federal statistics show the Black homicide victimization rate is
more than six times the white rate, and Black Americans also have the
    highest documented intimate-partner homicide rate.
You cannot scream about protecting Black lives while refusing to
confront violence destroying Black families and neighborhoods from the
inside. Caring about racism and caring about violent crime are not
mutually exclusive. Pretending one conversation cancels out the other
    helps absolutely nobody.
A 57-year-old woman is dead. Another woman is fighting for her life. The accused shooter is a fucking 15-year-old child.
Something is profoundly broken when children are becoming killers and
innocent people are paying the price.
He is currently in police custody while Detroit police and Wayne County authorities investigate. I want to see exactly what charges come next,
because this cannot become another headline everybody forgets three days
    from now.
The culture is deeply broken. WhatrCOs the fix?

It all starts at home, period.

The first thing parents should teach their kids is about Jesus.
Instilling in their hearts the love of God and that herCOs their greatest inspiration and comforter! These kids today have no structure and
direction in their life along with no respect for themselves and others including no consequences for their actions which leads to drugs,
criminal behavior, disrespect and violence. Teach them to know that
Jesus Christ is their only hope! Children are born with a clean slate
and they only know what theyrCOre shown so therefore they turn to the
streets! Parents teach your children about Jesus!!!

Part of the fix, and it's just a drop in the bucket, is to actually hold
these kids accountable. Yes, they're young, but if they choose to try to
run the streets and play dangerous games they need to be treated and
punished as such. Kids aren't afraid because they know there's no
consequence. Also, their older counterparts use them for their dirty
work for the same reason. The saying is "nip it in the bud" which simply
means stop it before it has a chance to grow. In these cases it's meant literally and figuratively!!

Carla Takacs no. Hold the parents accountable. If it is an underage
child, the parents need to be held accountable. Id be willing to bet
every single penny I have that this 15 year old in question doesnt have
    his father in his life.
Hold that man accountable for abandoning his children.

    Rich DeWeese
Alex Lamb but then, what if the father was kicked out to gain government subsidies by the mother? A lot of the time the father has no say in the matter.

    Michelle Elaine Colegrove
Alex Lamb the child is old enough to know better they need to hold the
child and maybe the parents depending on the circumstances.

Brenda J Niehaus there again, how do you know he wasn't willing?

Accountability starts in the home, discipline doesnrCOt have to be mean , itrCOs just a teaching thing. No races, no excuses. Just parents and
family bringing them up with discipline and accountability.

The fix is parenting!! Half the parents dont teach respect,
responsibility, how to deal with conflict! Quit letting the street raise
your children. You're failing them. Disciplone them. Quit blaming
everyone else when they do something wrong. Be in their life. Know where
they are, who theyre with, what theyre doing. Check their phones. Meet
    the friends. Be a parent!!!
