US Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on that the Justice Department
(DOJ) has launched an investigation into former House Speaker Nancy
Pelosi (D-CA) following her suggestion that federal agents breaking
state laws could be subject to arrest by local police.
The announcement follows a week marked by uncertainty over a planned
deployment of federal forces to San Francisco. President Donald Trump ultimately postponed the deployment, citing a request from San Francisco
Mayor Daniel Lurie and conversations with "friends."
During the period when the deployment was anticipated, former Speaker
Pelosi and Representative Kevin Mullin (D-CA) suggested that local law enforcement could arrest federal agents if the agents were to violate California law during planned immigration raids.
Pelosi's stated position was that individuals who break the law should
be held accountable, regardless of whether they are federal immigration
agents.
Bondi responded to PelosirCOs comments on Fox News.
"If you are telling people to arrest our ICE officers, our federal
agents, you cannot do that, you are impeding an investigation, and we
will charge them," Bondi stated. She added, "YourCOve got Pelosi out there saying to obstruct their investigation. You canrCOt do it, and werCOre going
to investigate her now."
