CHICAGO (WLS) -- A weapon was fired during a struggle involving Chicago
police officers Saturday on the Southwest Side, officials said.
Two 17-year-old suspects were arrested after a firearm was allegedly
pointed at a female victim, CPD said.
The incident happened around 3:35 p.m. in the 3700 block of West 71st
Street in West Lawn, Chicago police said.
A female victim said a male offender in a Chevrolet SUV "pointed a
firearm at her during a verbal altercation," police said. Officers then
located the suspected vehicle involved.
The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old male suspect, was arrested
without incident and a firearm was recovered from him, CPD said. A
second suspect, also a 17-year-old male, then exited the vehicle and
tried to run away.
While trying to arrest the second teen, CPD officers struggled with the suspect, and a firearm that was concealed in his clothing was
discharged, officials said. The offender was arrested and taken to a
hospital with minor injuries.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
Charges are pending against the two 17-year-old suspects.
COPA is investigating, CPD said.
No further information was available.
They were all black.
