Dear alt.language.latin,
I do not speak Latin yet, so please be patient with me.-a I'm only
just starting the magical video course of Mulinarius**.-a I thought to
start writing my own book, in Latin, to practice as I go along.-a So
far, I've only decided the name of the "publisher" which is supposed
to be a reverse acronym of A.S.C.I.I.,
-a Astronomic|a Societ-Utis Codex Imper-Ut+iris Ill+2min-Ut-2
and I am wondering if I got the declension mostly right?-a I thought it should mean
-a The Astronomical Society of the Codex* of the Illuminated Commander.
Now, the subject of the book should make all this clear.-a It's a text-
book of sorts, teaching people how to use, or "command" a Unix system
with the Korn Shell, which I have no doubt all of you are familiar with.
Best wishes, and happy /lingua latina/!
* Codex just means that, codex; a book or manuscript of magical power.
** If you're not familiar with the magical video course of Mulinarius,
-a-a you can see it here,
https://shop.thegreatcourses.com/latin-101-learning-a-classical-language
-a but since it can only be streamed now, and not downloaded I tend to
-a recommend people find a copy of the DVDs on Ebay instead.

As your Latin stands, it says;
The Astronomical Society's book of the Illuminated Commander.
I have a feeling this is what you wanted it to say, and that, somehow,
your English version got twisted.
If otherwise, let me know and I'll reconsider.

Salve Ed,
No, my English was more or less correct, and I only realized I need
the "Astronomical Society" in the nominative after posting.-a Sorry
about that.
-a Astronomica Societ-Us Codicis Imper-Ut+iris Ill+2min-Ut-2
How does that feel, for the original "English?"-a Of course, I can change
the meaning, and grammar, but this feels /right/, to me.-a That it's the society of the book, rather than the commander himself.
Best wishes, and happy /lingua latina/!
