From Newsgroup: alt.lang.asm
Dear comp.unix.bsd.netbsd.misc, and alt.lang.asm,
How do I get started with 64bit assembly, using yasm, on NetBSD?
I'm trying to adapt examples from the book /Introduction to 64
Bit Assembly Programming for Linux and OS X/, by Ray Seyfarth,
and I'm having problems compiling and linking the book's sample
code.
To further the grief, the example code at
https://wiki.netbsd.org/examples/netbsd_assembly/
does not seem to work for me either, on an amd64 machine. Or my
problem is that I'm trying to adapt it to yasm? I don't know.
Is there a kind soul who can provide a working /hello world/ app-
lication in amd64 assembly code -- we don't need to mention the
other brand, the machine code is completely compatible -- with the
yasm as the assembler?
In a fit of desperation, I even tried asking ChatGPT, but it only
spouted some nonsense about Linux compatibility, which I don't care
about since I'm using the /ultimate/ Unix, >>> NetBSD <<<.
Best wishes, and happy assembly coding!
