This third-party utility converts After Effects files to a fully editable, human-readable text-based format, and can create backwards-compatible projects that open in older versions. It currently supports CC 2019, CC 2018, 2017, 2015, CC 2014, CC 2013, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4 and CS3, and you can download the trial there if you want to check it out first.
