• code inserted into HTML file

The HTML file and associated folder in this directory is not infected but somehow the code has been altered so that when I save to disk and click on it all I get is adverts. I have tried to identify the code responsible but can't find it nor can AVG because it is not a virus. Can anyone help? Thanks.

No. That HTML in that server is already infested with ads. Your adblocker is likely have blocked them.

However, adblockers aren't quite effective when a HTML is opened using local file system path/address. i.e. opened using `file://` URL instead of
    `https://` or `http://` URL.
