You need to take a course - it's a job for a highly trained
    and skilled professional.

I gotta admit I didn't think I would get useful responses.
I was trying to generate a trickle of usenet traffic and thought maybe I might get something in a month if ever.
I'll check out these videos this weekend, this is fantastic.
It's a central AC system btw.

Help on home maintenance from usenet in 2026?
It's like the future I thought I was going to have.

Also my dad had this weird oblong Bob Villa book, I seem to recall it was colorful with lots of illustrations.
It seems like he did a TON of major home renovations straight out of this thing and honestly did a better job than a lot of contractors I've used.
If I were to track that guy down today, would it be horrible out of date?

Help on home maintenance from usenet in 2026?

Although we appear to be here to slag each other's political beliefs,
some of us actually love answering home maintenance questions.

Although I admit my first inclination was to reply, "Is Google
broken where you live?" Which is, in fact, what I did. I googled
for "how to clean an ac condenser", "how to clean a window ac", and
"how to clean an A-coil". I previewed the three video links, to
make sure they matched (pretty well) what we do to ours. I confess
we've never used fin cleaner. Just water.

We've got cottonwood trees in our neighborhood, so we wait until
they're done dispersing their seeds before we clean the condenser fins.

It's like the future I thought I was going to have.

I always thought the internet was for disseminating porn. Every
other development in communication technology has been used for that.

I had the same thought that I could just google this but figured with that attitude this place will never bounce back so I posted anyhow.
Somethingawful used to be one of the worst places about complaining about other people's posts in it's heydey but now that it sort of hangs on as a busy has-been location on the net they've got this meme "JUST POST"
and I think usenet would do well to adopt a "JUST POST" attitude. At least for now.

Once again it's so cool to be here and actually talking to people.

Every spring when I clean out my condenser unit, I'm reminded the dopes should have

put hinges on the to top (think car hood) to make it easier to clean the unit out.

I'm pretty sure HVAC engineers are severely mentally retarded.
