• Trolls hate it when their tactics are used against them.

The irony is that certain usenet admins aid and abet the trolls who
started shit, and then complained about it when it got kicked back in
    their faces.

Not everyone who kisses ass and pretends to be lilly white is so.

paganini.bofh.team is an excellent newsserver, i also regularly use
    several other servers for read-only purposes, freenews.netfront.net, news.neodome.net, nntp.csiph.com, news.blueworldhosting.com; 40tude
dialog makes it easy to select different servers for each newsgroup,
and also makes it easy to blacklist trolls, selectively kill-filing
the chronic offenders, and automatically ignoring the rest "from *",
thus watching only the whitelisted contributors/topics/servers, etc.

i have set 40tude to automatically "move" all troll farm chatter to
the "troll" folder, and all otherwise automatically ignored headers
to the "junk" folder, which i check (the junk folder) before purges,
maybe to add another killfile entry, or more rarely a new whitelist,
then purge daily, deleting dozens or even hundreds of troll headers,
so my subscribed newsgroups are usually low activity, some inactive
for weeks at a time (i.e., apart from what i might have posted from
time to time) . . . but without using filters, these newsgroups are
(with few exceptions) continuously targeted by troll farm "chatbots"
that constitute the 99.999% majority of all usenet content globally,
their purpose apparently to discourage the unwary from using usenet

you can ignore trolls . . . let your newsreader do it automatically.

Good advice, I deal with multi-posters that way.
