Each discipline in your degree, has a group, if there is a constituency of people who have participated.
You could, for example, ask a physics question in Sci.Physics .
Cross-posting to alt.chemistry.drugs would be inappropriate for
your physics question.

the name, but it seems to be more about ceremonial magic these days.
