Well it's just a simple piece of statistics. The list above that,
of groups most read on my site may have a little more value.
I'm afraid I don't have the time or inclination to read and review
every group on Usenet.

I have wondered whether it might be possible to generate some kind of
automated and objective "quality score" for groups. Factors could include having a range of active posters, not just the same one or two; proportion
of articles not crossposted; length of threads; ??? To be practical to implement this would have to be based on just the info that can be got
from XOVER queries.

It's not controversial information, so I was appalled he found it
necessary to repost to Usenet via dizum.

I wouldn't credit the crossposters with the high poast count they crave,
so count in the first group only. I'm not telling you to do work for
that still doesn't articles written for Usenet excluding those written
for the Web.

That would be a little more helpful. Also, leave out nondiscusion
groups.

If a thread develops, I'd choose a realistic cutoff for analysis, not
counting a followup more than 3 days after the precursor.

I don't want to make work here. It still can't be used to advise a new
user. He really needs to learn himself.

Well it's just a simple piece of statistics. The list above that,
of groups most read on my site may have a little more value.

crave, so count in the first group only. I'm not telling you to do

Some users have been here longer than you. They might even have used
