I use Free agent 1.93, is very simple

40tude Dialog is similaire of Free agent more feature

I have nothing against using old software, old OS, old hardware, as long
as it is able to do what I want how I want it.

BUT...

... besides usenet, there's a lot of stuff out there that needs a modern browser and 'associated' support such as a modern OS on 'reasonable'
hardware.

have to try it. That Pablo guy who ran AIOE was so cheap you put in more
than about 200 words it wouldn't send. That guy was the cheapest prick
on earth. With the money he saved after a year he'd got one more hunk of toilet paper to wipe his arse with. It's been more than 3 years and he
guy still hasn't fixed his new server. He's about as reliable as a car
with no windshield wipers driving though a rainstorm.

SeaMonkey is the best news reader in the world if you only do text. I
was a lifelong Netscape man with Netscape Messenger and the only thing
left that resembles it is SeaMOnkey. I go all the way back to the days
of FidoNet.
