To celebrate the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker film, the franchise will have a kabuki stage play adaptation supervised by and starring famed kabuki actor Ichikawa Ebiz+i XI as Kylo Ren. The play will be a special one-day performance on November 28 in Tokyo, and will be a three-act play that will use both traditional kabuki techniques and modern video technology.
Ebiz+i stated that the kabuki play will portray the "love and loss spanning 40 years in the Skywalker family."
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, billed as the "end of the Skywalker saga," and the last of the new trilogy that began with 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, opens on December 20.

Kabuki actors will swap their samurai swords for lightsabers to perform
the adaptation of the wildly popular series later this month, ahead the release of the final film in the main Star Wars saga.

Ichikawa Ebizo, among the biggest names in Japan's heavily choreographed kabuki world, will star as Kylo Ren, the son of Han Solo, who is drawn
to the dark side.

The performance on November 28 at an undisclosed location in Tokyo is
shrouded in secrecy, but will feature key moments from recent
installments of the series, the Japanese arm of Disney said in a statement.
