How the original Star Wars trilogy fooled everyone with matte

Those old matte paintings also naturally echoed the imperfections or
of reality. That's where digital effects initially fell down since it
was easier to make perfect copies in exact rows which look fake to the
human eye.
Early commercials with duplicates also fell into that trap.
