I pick up this book,
on page 1, I read
"They abducted me yesterday -------------"
on page 2, I read,
"I mean Emily promised they wouldn't eat me, so that
pretty much leaves - probes
---------she gave me non-answers -----
Emily: Yes, we've decided to keep you alive, and aren't you happy
about that? We got you these nice clothes that say DO NOT EAT all
over them in our language. ---------------
I just want to hear you say you won't probe me.
Emily: Hmm,you know what, Clint? This sound really important and
I don't want to mess it up because I missed some nuance here, so
let me get back to you on this.
ME: What? Wait, no. Emily there is nothing nuanced about
a probe!
EMILY: I'll circle back later.
They are going to fucking probe me.
Yeah, desiring some light and easy read, I bought it!

"The only favor the aliens do for Clint Beecham when they abduct him is
give him a shirt that says DO NOT EAT on it in their language. He's told
that as a physicist, he is to be reserved, along with five other
scientists, for a mysterious purpose. But fifty thousand other humans on
board the interstellar scout ship are scheduled to be butchered and
frozen, a food supply for the long journey to the alien homeworld. Clint
and the other Reserves can't stand by and let that happen. Ayesha is a biologist and Deepali a geologist; Oscar is a meteorologist and Gregory specializes in robotics; Hanh is a researcher in marine biology.
Together they're humanity's last unlikely hope. Because if they don't
find a way to stop the ravenous aliens from reporting that they've found
a planet full of delicious creatures to eat, the fifty thousand humans
on board will only be the first of billions: the entire earth will
become an all-you-can-eat buffet"--

I did the audio book, which I love. Luke Daniels is a talented genius.
This fun, dark, funny, and gritty story was the kind of "feelacoaster"
you expect from Kevin Hearne. So much crammed into such a short story!

And so we discover what really happens to all those people who are
abducted by aliens from walking trails and country roads in places like
the Rocky Mountains. Apparently they become fodder for flesh eating
aliens who are higher up the food chain. It should give us a greater
empathy for the feelings of chickens.
-----Our hero, Clint Beecham and the other five scientists lead a
rebellion to try and prevent the news about Earth ever reaching the home planet.
The story is imaginative, funny, very gory and certainly action packed.
I read it in one sitting because it is actually impossible to put down
once the humans become determined to win. The ending is clever and
explains the title. The rest is left to your imagination. An excellent read.

plot and kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through. Read it.
