I got the 40th Anniversary 5-CD version of "Zappa in New York" for
Christmas. Only had time to listen to it once so far. It's better
than I was expecting. The middle three discs that flesh out a version
of the complete set list from the concerts using previously unreleased recordings are great. The nearly half-hour long version of Black
Napkins on disc four is fantastic. Also neat to hear the piano
interpretations of The Black Page on disc five, particularly the one
that Ruth Underwood arranged and recorded at home.

There's still stuff to talk about, it just hardly anyone checks out
    USENET newsgroups any more.

Its a pity that this is the first time I've heard of the 5 CD version, or
I'd have grabbed a set. But G&S Music has sold out of it and doesn't seem
to expect any more will become available, while even the steaming, fetid
pile known as Amazon only has the 3 CD version.

However, a question for the OP of this thread: have you got or listened
    to 'Roxy By Proxy'?

IMO its the best CD by the best FZ band, and was recorded at a one-off
concert when they were at the top of their game.

I'm still seeing it available on Amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com/Zappa-New-York-40th-Anniversary/dp/B07KS8SBJN/

It's a bit pricey (currently $73.07), but it looks like it's still
    available.

No, I haven't, Besides having cash flow problems as of late that MOI era is not one of my particular
favorites. Say what you will but I think Frank just became full of himself around this time. My fave era is from FO to JABFLA era
and "some" of the '88 TGBYNHIYL era. Don't get me wrong, though. I enjoy tunes such as VOTS & the reworking of TED/OCLT but tunes such as Dynamo Humm, DEYS & Cosmik Debris get real OLD real Fast! That's all!!! I have to go triple mask, hide under my bed & wait for Dr. Fraudchi sez it OK to come out now!!!
