It suddenly hit me there might be a reasonable parallel between
the "Eternal September" and "open borders". Even if/when those
pouring in are intelligent, behaviorally decent, and well-meaning
(which of course is unlikely in this species...), too much change
too quickly tends to overwhelm the coping skills people have slowly learned/evolved.

Not that what I'm about to say is at all practical, but I guess
there should have been "background checks" and/or "quotas" in place
at the gates of USENET prior to September of 1993....
