I looked again at the newsgroups file and didn't see any useful examples
of the manufacturer's name being part of the group name at its own third-level hierarchy with respect to software clients and applications.

Suggestion for alt.comp.mozilla.* withdrawn. Use your proposed names.

As both "mozilla" and "thunderbird" or "firefox" will be in the group
names, do not repeat those in the description.

As "mozilla" won't be in the group name, then you might include it in
    the description.

Thanks, I think "mozilla" as part of the thunderbird group might have
been contentious anyway as mozilla spawned it off to the community,
    while retaining the trademark.

Kids! You were all misinformed. Posting followups in alt.config to
express support for a proposed newsgroup is off topic and NOT a way to promote creation of the newsgroup.

After I mistakenly asked for people to indicate their support here (I
thought it would be necessary to demonstrate such) I did "withdraw" that request in the individual groups concerned ...

Mozilla will shutdown their news.mozilla.org server (and corresponding mailing lists) from 3rd April 2021, this will be the end of the group mozilla.support.thunderbird, which has little, or no, propagation to
    other public servers.

The existing group (including the corresponding mailing list) has seen
3376 messages in the last 12 months (avg 9 per day).

People who have stuck with usenet for so long probably have little
appetite to join web forums as a replacement, please indicate your
support for the proposed group in this thread.

I support creation of the group.

If it's here on Astra, and it is, it's likely on most commercial
    servers.

But that's an unsanctioned feed from the mozilla servers, and it's one
way, if you post there it won't make it back to the mozilla server
    (which is going away anyway)

You could make a test reply to a post in the thread with subject "THIS

I couldn't care less. The group is live and valid on at least one
commercial server. Who gives a fuck is posts get back to servers going
    down?
