• Firefox 150(?) layout.css.devPixelsPerPx + Japanese Youtube links == tab freeze?

    user_pref("layout.css.devPixelsPerPx", "2");

    If I used decimal numbers that's not divisible by 5 in layout.css.devPixelsPerPx (e.g. "2.2" rather than "2.5"), many Japanese Youtube links would freeze the whole tab. English Youtube links were
    also not affected. I think Chinese links were affected as well. English
    links were unaffectd!!!

    I suspect that the rendering of the YouTube player box was not correctly "calculated" correctly when I use non-5 decimal numbers in "layout.css.devPixelsPerPx". Maybe it's "division by zero" kind of bug??

    I am also not sure about Firefox for Linux. I am using Windows 10.

    That pref in my Fx 150.0 and Linux Mint 22.3 is set to -1.0. I first of
    all tried to set it to +2.2, but that led to a screen with 30pt+ fonts!

    So I set it to -1.1. The only difference then was that the videos took
    about 15 seconds to start instead of starting immediately I clicked on
    the arrow. They then both played through without problem. I reset it to
    the default of -1.0, and they both started immediately again.

    Looks like the pref does affect it, but it's much more of a Windows
    issue than a Linux one.

    Have been using non-default devPixelsPerPx for a long, long time without problems, until recent builds. I think it all started with 14x builds,
    not sure!!

    This problem could be seen in web-page rendering as well. Try a webpage
    with links at the bottom or footer of the page. From an inch above the
    bottom, you could NOT click any links inside this box. The mouse pointer
    would not change from a pointer to a palm.

    Funny thing is English links were NOT affected! ;)

    There was nothing non-English about the links themselves, just the pages
    being linked to contained Japanese ...

    Only those links from that Oricon Entertainment News channel
    demonstrated this problem. Most other Youtube links are working fine.

    That's really strange... soemthing to with the video format. say
    resolution? Maybe it's not 16:9 but a bigger theatre format???
