NOW what. What kind of redesign are they talking about and how many

As Harold said in a different context in /The Boys in the Band/, it
can be as few as none, if you know how to work it.
By which I mean -- no one is forcing you to use Firefox. The devs
have proved over a span of years that what users want is not a consideration. Maybe this "redesign" will prompt you to choose a
different primary browser.
So far, the only one I've seen that comes close to that is Vivaldi.
(Yes, I still have Firefox installed, but it has not been my primary
browser for a couple of years now. For me the turning point was yet
another change that broke extensions I relied on and used regularly.)
Yeah, that's what I mainly was referring to in the OP, having to deal
with multiple new extension incompatibilities.
As I watch the video here:

I again hear nonsense like this "cleaner, softer, and more customizable
feel" mantra. The focus seems to be on looks, not functionality. So yet
again, more advanced users will need to hack using userchrome.css
tweaks. And yet again, doing so will only be the beginning of yet
another chess game with the devs.
