You can make the Start menu bigger (I think that *is* a new option?)
though the Grid and List views in the All section don't seem to make
good use of the extra area.

or you could just use the "Download and Install" button in Windows update ?

    It's not a simultaneous release.

Everything is staged. There are blocker issues for ISOs.
There are blocker issues preventing the Windows Update
    delivery method from happening.

For example, I had VirtualBox 5 on a machine, and before
the ISO would install, it said "get rid of that VirtualBox 5
or I will not install". So I installed VirtualBox 6,
then shoved the ISO back into the process, and the
    upgrade would then run.

Whereas things like the Windows Update method,
can be blocked if you have a problematic printer
that would stop working, if the install went ahead. Blockers
can last for as long as nine months, so your "wait" can in
some cases, be extraordinarily long. On tablets, you waited
until the end of the cycle, while Microsoft figured out
how an Upgrade could work with 32GB of eMMC storage
    for the C: drive.

If there are no features to be expected, there might be
no reason to get it. When upgrades bring the deprecation
of features, then there is really really no reason to upgrade.
Only two releases receive windows updates at any one time,
which establishes a time horizon for how long you can
    hold back on upgrading.

If you need additional control over version upgrades, you
can use "InControl" from grc. If you use an ISO, you can
override this -- what this is for, is preventing
a Windows Update attack from succeeding before you are
ready for it. And all this does, is set three or four
registry locations. You can also do these registry items
    manually, without the program.

    https://www.grc.com/incontrol.htm

Some people, like to do a backup before doing one of these,
which means they also seek "precise control" of when the
    attempt happens.

    I've got that already, ("View > Show > Filename extensions") on 25H2 26200.9457 .

Never even noticed it was there, as like you, one of the

I feel that way too. Disabling it is one of the first things I do after installing Windows. That sort of malware wasn't possible in Win 3.x, which didn't allow dots in the filename (just the one between name and
extension). M$ has had plenty of time to notice the problem of "fake extensions".

IIRC, hiding extensions has been the default in every version of Windows
    I've used (3.1, 3.11, 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, 7, 8, 10, 11).

BTW, I didn't use Vista on my own machine. What I remember of Vista was in helping someone, and it taking forever to find things I could find easily
on XP. Their "full of crapware" machine didn't help either.

    Windows11_Client_x64_en-gb_26300_9457.iso

Any word if Rufus is supporting it yet?

Have you tried running it, see if it downloads the new ISO?

Not yet. I was going to wait for the dust to settle first

This is ChatGPT's take on it:

Yes. Rufus 4.15 supports the Windows 11 26H2 ISO, build 26300.9457,
which is the build corresponding to the file you mentioned. The current
    Rufus release is 4.15, released June 30, 2026. RRufus+1

More importantly for what you're trying to do:

Rufus still provides its Windows 11 hardware-requirement bypass
    when creating the installation USB.

Its Windows User Experience dialog includes rCLRemove requirement for 4GB+ RAM, Secure Boot and TPM 2.0.rCY GGitHub

Rufus specifically documents bypassing the TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirements. GGitHub

There is an important limitation with 26H2/24H2-and-later: very old
CPUs lacking SSE4.2 and POPCNT cannot be bypassed by Rufus, because
those CPU features are required by Windows itself. GGitHub

So if your machine's issue is TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, or the normal
    Windows 11 hardware eligibility checks, I'd use Rufus 4.15 + your Windows11_Client_x64_en-gb_26300_9457.iso.

When you hit Start in Rufus, you should get the Windows User Experience
dialog where you can select the relevant requirement-removal options.

Download Rufus 4.15 from the official site

If you tell me what CPU/motherboard the target PC has, I can also tell
you whether 26H2 is likely to install successfully on itrCoparticularly whether it has the SSE4.2/POPCNT issue.

Yes rCo Rufus can create the installation media with a local-account
option, including an option specifically called rCLRemove requirement for
an online Microsoft accountrCY and rCLCreate a local account with username.rCY Rufus's current documentation still lists both options

In order to upgrade from Windows 10 or Windows 11 23H2, you will require

    "Client"-a ????

I was wondering about that as well:

I am surprised Paul did no answer that one!

    Windows11_Client_x64_en-gb_26300_9457.iso

Any word if Rufus is supporting it yet?

Have you tried running it, see if it downloads the new ISO?

Not yet.-a I was going to wait for the dust to settle first

This is ChatGPT's take on it:

Yes. Rufus 4.15 supports the Windows 11 26H2 ISO, build 26300.9457, which is the build corresponding to the file you mentioned. The current Rufus release is 4.15, released June 30, 2026. RRufus+1

More importantly for what you're trying to do:

-a-a-a Rufus still provides its Windows 11 hardware-requirement bypass when creating the installation USB.

-a-a-a Its Windows User Experience dialog includes rCLRemove requirement for 4GB+ RAM, Secure Boot and TPM 2.0.rCY GGitHub

-a-a-a Rufus specifically documents bypassing the TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirements. GGitHub

-a-a-a There is an important limitation with 26H2/24H2-and-later: very old CPUs lacking SSE4.2 and POPCNT cannot be bypassed by Rufus, because those CPU features are required by Windows itself. GGitHub

So if your machine's issue is TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, or the normal Windows 11 hardware eligibility checks, I'd use Rufus 4.15 + your Windows11_Client_x64_en-gb_26300_9457.iso.

When you hit Start in Rufus, you should get the Windows User Experience dialog where you can select the relevant requirement-removal options.

Download Rufus 4.15 from the official site

If you tell me what CPU/motherboard the target PC has, I can also tell you whether 26H2 is likely to install successfully on itrCoparticularly whether it has the SSE4.2/POPCNT issue.

Yes rCo Rufus can create the installation media with a local-account option, including an option specifically called rCLRemove requirement for an online Microsoft accountrCY and rCLCreate a local account with username.rCY Rufus's current documentation still lists both options

Since some media would be intended for a Server version
of Windows, you would think that Client would be the
un-Server version. And the Client media has lots of SKUs on it.
And should be a bloated work of art :-) Via overlays, extra
SKUs can be hosted, by only one copy of a file being
on the DVD, and then linked to make copies for the other SKUs.
That's why, if you re-master the DVD and chop it down to one
SKU, it doesn't save a massive amount of space (maybe 500MB).

An example of a processor not having SSE4.2/POPCNT would be
an E8400 Core2 Duo. It missed out on a Population Count
instruction. The Population Count of 0x1F is 5.
The Population Count of 0xF1 is 5. On the AMD side, some
things that old, didn't even have the x64 instruction set
on them (Win11 is x64 only).

If I were to boot a 25H2 or 26H2 media on the Dell Optiplex 780
with E8400 in it, the DVD should crash. As it was, the last version
of Win10, the Northbridge GPU was not new enough for a
graphics driver to be loadable (XDDM didn't work any more).
It took an add-in video card, just to install 22H2 (which would
be licensed via having had Win7 on it originally). An old enough
version of Win11 would work, but not a recent version. I've not
done any experiments with W11 on the machine, as even if it worked,
it would be kinda slow for any purpose. Even the 4930K has had its
slow moments (fixed at some point via an update), on W11. And that's
a hex core at 3.4GHz. The MBEC really makes a difference, when
    you don't have it.

Good Luck and hope you will all start the blame game!

There is still no ISO file available for the international version of
English. The English United States version may not offer users with
other English versions, such as the United Kingdom version, the true
upgrade option. I think so, but I haven't tried it yet.

By 'true upgrade', I mean upgrading while keeping all apps and documents
rather than doing a clean upgrade.

I don't follow! Why can't you just 'upgrade' ('update' actually) via Windows Update (as mentioned before, just click 'Download & install)?
That of course will "keep all apps and documents". No need for ISOs.

As to 'English (United Kingdom)': I have that on my system and got
offered the 26H2 update in Windows Update (at least) yesterday.

I opened a browser in WSL2 (which means my UserAgent is Linux),
and the "download some media" portion of the dialog does
    offer the International English version.

My work machine runs Win11 Pro without the "be first" setting, it hasn't mentioned 26H2 yet. My home machine runs Win11 Home with the "be first" setting, it offered 26H2 on 30th, I upgraded and haven't seen anything negative so far ...

You can use this to set the release to lock to. 11 25H2 (to avoid 26H2).

    https://www.grc.com/incontrol.htm

One problem is, the enablement package (745KB) is likely
already on the machine. It's not clear whether the four
or so registry locations InControl loads, will be enough
to cause that nag to go away.

If I was in that pinch, my sequence would be.

    1) Disconnect from network
    2) Insert 25H2 DVD or ISO, mount the media, run Setup.exe
This will do a Repair Install of your current 25H2.
    3) When desktop returns, use InControl. Set the release to 11 25H2.
That's what mine is set to right now (no nag).

    4) Connect to the network, and allow Windows Updates.
    5) This should bring you back to 26200.9457 , whereas the
enablement would have bumped it to 26300.9457 .

Yes, I have that exact same situation/message on both our 25H2 systems.

And the taskbar keeps showing that an update is available. I had the
same thing when 25H2 was available. I had to uncheck that update a dozn
times before it stopped nagging (and then it installed anyway after a
    long time).

What *exactly* do you mean by "I had to uncheck that update"? Do you
click on the 'X" at the end of

    "(i) Windows 11, version 26H2 is available Download & install X"

If so, what happens then? Does the update go away and come back later (when?)? Other?

I want the update to go away for now, but I do not want to have to
jump through hoops to get it back when/if I'm ready for it.

N.B. If you hover over the 'X", it says 'Close', but doesn't say what
    'Close' actually does.

Yes. Sorry, poor choice of words.

If so, what happens then? Does the update go away and come back later (when?)? Other?

It goes away and comes back again. And there's a notification on my
Taskbar 'Get the latest features and security improvements with the
    newest feature update.'

I want the update to go away for now, but I do not want to have to
jump through hoops to get it back when/if I'm ready for it.

N.B. If you hover over the 'X", it says 'Close', but doesn't say what 'Close' actually does.

It doesn't do anything apparently. But IIRC I had the same behaviour
when 25H2 was available. I kept closing it and one day it was gone. No
option to install it through Updates, so I just waited (a long time)
until it installed automatically with the other updates.
