NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) rCo Kenyan farmer Yvonne Anyonyi Mumiah walks in the
early morning between rows of rosemary, basil and other crops destined
for European supermarkets. She once worried that transport delays or
extreme heat could spoil much of her harvest, but now relies on a solar-powered cool storage service to keep her produce fresh.

The pay-per-use model offered by cold-chain company SoKo Fresh charges
farmers based on kilograms (pounds) stored, part of a trend in Africa
toward using solar-powered cold storage to help prevent one of
agriculturerCOs most persistent problems: food spoilage...

Finally! Something interesting to read and discuss. Thanks.

Solar is really big in California - a leader in environmental
conservation. Especially up here in NorCal around the Sonoma Wine
    Country. YMMV.

Rita and me are down on solar!

We've got solar panels on the roof and three Tesla backup batteries,
always fully charged. Plus solar tubes for general lighting is great.
Solar lights on the sidewalk too. Nice.

Our aim is to get the PG&E bill down to zero, and then at the end of the
year, we will square up the numbers.

Note: Solar energy for homes offers significant financial savings,
increased property values, and environmental benefits. On average,
homeowners save about $1,500 annually on electricity and boost their
home resale value by nearly 7%.
