John 1:1 is a mistranslation in most modern Bibles.
They break a rule of Greek grammar there. They say othe Word was Godo.
Not correct! Which is why many people are confused, such as they read
Luke 18:19 then see John 1:1. They totally contradict one another. So
what are the facts? What if I said:
There is Michael Jordan. Or,
There is the Michael Jordan.
Does adding otheo change anything?
Of course it does. And it is the same in the Greek language. Thus
Jesus is NOT God, but he is oa godo.
But there is no oao in the Greek language. However many Bibles add it
for clarity. Thus the early Coptic language renders it, othe Word was
a godo:
Other than the Jehovah's Witnesses Bible (NWT), here are some others:
"the Logos was divine." (MO);
"the Word was divine." (AT; SD);
"a god was the Word." (interlinear ED) ;
"the Word was a god" (NTIV).
"The Word was deity." (Simple English)
The Catholic Bible, New American Bible (NAB), says in a footnote on
John 1:1,
"Was God:lack of a definite article with "God" in Greek signifies
predication rather than identification".
Do the Catholic Scholars know their Greek? Many people believe so. Yet
they went for the Trinity and translated owas Godo. Oh well.
And the apostle John (who wrote John 1:1) near the end of his book at
John 20:31, mentions the final concluding comment about Jesus'
position as to God. He said that Jesus was the "Son of God", not 'God
the Son', nor 'God'.
Also read Luke 18:19.
