    Jeremiah 18

    The Potter and the Clay

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying:
2 (Jer 19:1-2) "Arise and go down to the potter's house,
and there I will cause you to hear My words."
3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and there he was making
    something on the wheel.
    4 Yet the vessel that he made of clay was spoiled in the hand of the potter;
so he made it again into another vessel,
as seemed good to the potter to make it.
5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
6 (Isa 64:8; 45:9) O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter? says the Lord. As the clay is in the potter's hand, so are you in My hand,
    O house of Israel.
7 (Jer 1:10) At one moment I may speak concerning a nation
and concerning a kingdom to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it.
8 (Jer 26:13; Eze 18:21) If that nation against which I have spoken turns
from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to do to it.
9 (Jer 1:10; 31:28) Or at another moment I may speak concerning a nation
and concerning a kingdom to build and to plant it.
10 (1Sa 2:30; Eze 33:18) If it does evil in My sight by not obeying My voice, then I will relent of the good with which I said I would bless it.
11 (2Ki 17:13; Isa 1:16-19) Now therefore speak to the men of Judah
and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying: Thus says the Lord:
Look, I am shaping disaster against you and devising a plan against you.
Repent now, everyone from his evil way, and make your ways
    and your deeds good.
12 (Jer 2:25; Isa 57:10) But they say, "There is no hope! But we will walk after our own devices, and each of us will do according
to the stubbornness of his evil heart."
13 (Jer 5:30; Isa 66:8) Therefore thus says the Lord:
    Ask now among the nations,
    who has heard such things?
    The virgin of Israel
has done a very horrible thing.
14 Shall a man leave the snow of Lebanon,
which comes from the rock of the field?
Shall the cold flowing water that comes from another place
    be forsaken?
15 (Isa 57:14; Jer 6:16) Because My people have forgotten Me,
they have burned incense to vain gods
and they have stumbled in their ways
    from the ancient paths,
    to walk in bypaths,
    not on a highway,
16 (Ps 22:7; Jer 25:9 ) to make their land desolate,
    and a perpetual hissing;
everyone who passes by shall be astonished
    and shake his head.
17 (Jer 2:27; 13:24) I will scatter them before the enemy
    as with an east wind;
I will show them the back and not the face
in the day of their calamity.

[1] The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
[2] Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause
    thee to hear my words.
[3] Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work
    on the wheels.
[4] And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the
potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
[5] Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
[6] O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O
    house of Israel.
    [7] At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
[8] If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
    [9] And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
[10] If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will
repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.
[11] Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants
of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way,
and make your ways and your doings good.
[12] And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own
devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.
[13] Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.
[14] Will a man leave the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken?
[15] Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to
    vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up;
[16] To make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and wag his head.
[17] I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.

    Jeremiah Persecuted

18 (Jer 11:19; Ps 52:2) Then they said, "Come and let us devise plans
against Jeremiah. For the law will not be lost from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come and let us strike him
with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words."
19 Give heed to me, O Lord,
and listen to the voice of those who contend with me.
20 (Ps 35:7; 57:6 ) Shall evil be recompensed for good?
For they have dug a pit for my soul.
Remember that I stood before You
    to speak good for them,
and to turn away Your wrath from them.
21 (Ps 109:9-20; Jer 9:21) Therefore, deliver up their children
    to the famine
    and pour out their blood by the power of the sword;
and let their wives be bereaved of their children and become widows
    and let their men be put to death;
let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.
22 (Ps 140:5; Jer 6:26) Let a cry be heard from their houses,
    when You bring a troop suddenly upon them;
for they have dug a pit to take me
and hidden snares for my feet.
23 (Isa 2:9) Yet, Lord, You know
all their counsel against me to slay me.
    Do not forgive their iniquity
    nor blot out their sin from Your sight;
    but let them be overthrown before You;
deal thus with them in the time of Your anger.

[18] Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for
the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let
us not give heed to any of his words.
[19] Give heed to me, O LORD, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me.
[20] Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them, and to turn away thy wrath from them.
[21] Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young
men be slain by the sword in battle.
[22] Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them: for they have digged a pit to take me, and hid snares
    for my feet.
[23] Yet, LORD, thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me:
forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but
let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of
    thine anger.

    Jeremiah 19

    The Broken Jar

1 (Nu 11:16) Thus says the Lord: Go and buy a potter's earthen bottle,
and take some of the elders of the people and some of the elders
    of the priests.
2 (Jos 15:8; 2Ki 23:10) Then go out to the Valley of Ben Hinnom,
which is by the entry of the Potsherd Gate, and proclaim there the words
    that I will tell you,
3 (1Sa 3:11; Jer 17:20) and say: Hear the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem. Thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel:
I will bring such disaster upon this place, at which whoever hears of it,
    his ears shall tingle.
    4 (Jer 2:34; 2Ki 21:16; Dt 28:20) Because they have forsaken Me
and have profaned this place by making offerings in it to other gods
whom neither they, their fathers, nor the kings of Judah have known,
and have filled this place with the blood of the innocent,
5 (Jer 32:35; Lev 18:21; Ps 106:37-38) and have built the high places
of Baal to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings to Baal,
which I did not command or decree, nor did it come into My mind-
6 (Jos 15:8; Isa 30:33) therefore, surely the days are coming,
says the Lord, when this place shall no more be called Topheth
or the Valley of Ben Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.
7 (Lev 26:17; Jer 16:4) I will make void the counsel of Judah
and Jerusalem in this place, and I will cause them to fall by the sword
before their enemies, and by the hands of those who seek their lives.
And their corpses I will give to be food for the fowl of the heaven
and for the beasts of the earth.
    8 (Jer 18:16; 1Ki 9:8) I will make this city desolate and a hissing.
Everyone who passes by will be astonished and hiss because
    of all the wounds.
9 (Lev 26:29; Isa 9:20) I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons
and the flesh of their daughters, and everyone will eat the flesh
of his friend in the siege and distress, with which their enemies
and those who seek their lives will distress them.
10 (Jer 19:1; 51:63-64) Then you will break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with you,
11 (Ps 2:9; Isa 30:14) and say to them: Thus says the Lord of Hosts:
Even so I will break this people and this city, as one breaks a potter's
vessel that cannot be made whole again; and they will bury them in Topheth until there is no other place to bury.
12 Thus I will do to this place and to the inhabitants, says the Lord,
and even make this city as Topheth.
13 (2Ki 23:12; Jer 7:18) And the houses of Jerusalem and the houses
of the kings of Judah will be defiled as the place of Topheth,
because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned
incense to all the host of heaven and have poured out drink offerings
    to other gods.
14 (2Ch 20:5; Jer 26:2) Then Jeremiah came from Topheth, where the Lord
had sent him to prophesy. And he stood in the court of the house of the Lord and said to all the people:
15 (Jer 7:26; 17:23) Thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel:
I am about to bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the disaster
that I have pronounced against it, because they have stiffened their necks
so that they might not heed My words.

    Jeremiah 19
[1] Thus saith the LORD, Go and get a potter's earthen bottle, and take of
    the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests;
[2] And go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry
of the east gate, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee,
[3] And say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants
of Jerusalem; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I
will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears
    shall tingle.
[4] Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers
have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the
    blood of innocents;
[5] They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with
fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind:
[6] Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall
no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The
    valley of slaughter.
    [7] And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place;
and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be
meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
[8] And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that
passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof.
[9] And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of
their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their
    lives, shall straiten them.
[10] Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee,
[11] And shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter's vessel, that
cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there
    be no place to bury.
[12] Thus will I do unto this place, saith the LORD, and to the inhabitants thereof, and even make this city as Tophet:
[13] And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah,
shall be defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses upon
whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto other gods.
[14] Then came Jeremiah from Tophet, whither the LORD had sent him to
prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD's house; and said to all
    the people,
[15] Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring
upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they might not
    hear my words.

    Jeremiah 20

    Pashhur Strikes Jeremiah

1 (1Ch 24:14; 2Ki 25:18) Now Pashhur the son of Immer the priest,
who was also chief officer in the house of the Lord,
heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.
2 (Jer 37:13; 1:19) Then Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet
and put him in the stocks that were in the upper Gate of Benjamin,
which was by the house of the Lord.
3 (Jer 20:10; Isa 8:3) On the next day Pashhur brought Jeremiah
out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him, The Lord has not called
your name Pashhur, but "Magor-missabib."[Possibly Chief of Staff.[
4J (er 29:21; Job 18:11-21) For thus says the Lord: I will make you
a terror to yourself and to all your friends. And they will fall by the sword of their enemies while your eyes will see it. Thus I will give all Judah
into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them captive
into Babylon and will slay them with the sword.
    5 (2Ki 20:17-18; 24:12-16) Moreover I will deliver all the wealth
    of this city, and all its produce, and all the precious things;
and all the treasures of the kings of Judah I will give into the hand
of their enemies who will destroy them, and take them,
    and carry them to Babylon.
6 (Jer 14:14-15; La 2:14) You, Pashhur, and all who dwell in your house
will go into captivity; and you will come to Babylon,
and there you will die and will be buried there,
you and all your friends to whom you have prophesied lies.

[1] Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in
the house of the LORD, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.
[2] Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that
were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.
[3] And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah
out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magor-missabib.
[4] For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself,
and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies,
and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of
the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and
shall slay them with the sword.
[5] Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the
labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures
of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which
shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.
[6] And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into captivity: and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and
shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast
    prophesied lies.

    Jeremiah Dejected

    7 (La 3:14; Eze 3:14) O Lord, You have deceived me and I was deceived;
You are stronger than I and have prevailed.
    I am held in derision daily;
    everyone mocks me.
    8 (Jer 6:10; 2Ch 36:16) For each time I speak, I cry out;
I cry out, "Violence and devastation,"
because to me the word of the Lord has resulted
    in reproach and derision daily.
9 (Job 32:18-20; Ps 39:3) But if I say, "I will not make mention of Him
nor speak any more in His name,"
then His word was in my heart
    as a burning fire shut up in my bones;
and I was weary of forbearing it,
and I could not endure it.
10 (Ps 31:13; 41:9) For I heard the defaming of many,
    "Terror on every side!
    Denounce him. Yes, denounce him!"
    All my familiar friends
who watch for my fall, say,
    "Perhaps he will be enticed
so that we can prevail against him,
and we will take our revenge on him."
11 (Jer 15:20; 23:40; 1:8) But the Lord is with me as a dread mighty One. Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and will not prevail.
They will be greatly ashamed, for they will not prosper.
Their everlasting shame will never be forgotten.
12 (Jer 11:20; Ps 54:7; 59:10) But, O Lord of Hosts, who tests the righteous and sees the mind and the heart,
let me see Your vengeance on them,
for to You I have presented my cause.
13 (Ps 34:6; 69:33) Sing to the Lord,
    praise the Lord.
For He has delivered the soul of the poor
    from the hand of evildoers.
14 (Jer 15:10) Cursed be the day in which I was born.
Let not the day be blessed in which my mother bore me.
15 Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father,
saying, "A baby boy has been born to you!"
    and made him very glad.
16 (Jer 18:22; 48:3-4) Let that man be as the cities
which the Lord overthrew and did not relent,
and let him hear the cry in the morning
and the shout of alarm at noon,
17 (Job 3:10-11; 10:18-19) because he did not kill me from the womb,
so that my mother might have been my grave,
and her womb be always pregnant.
18 (Job 3:20; La 3:1) Why did I come forth from the womb
    to see trouble and sorrow,
so that my days are spent in shame?

[7] O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger
than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.
[8] For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.
[9] Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones,
and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
[10] For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we
shall take our revenge on him.
[11] But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my
persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be
greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
[12] But, O LORD of hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the reins
and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened
    my cause.
[13] Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD: for he hath delivered the soul
of the poor from the hand of evildoers.
[14] Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.
[15] Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child
is born unto thee; making him very glad.
[16] And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and
    repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide;
[17] Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been
my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.
[18] Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that
my days should be consumed with shame?

    Jeremiah 21
    Zedekiah's Request Denied
1 (Jer 29:25; 37:3) The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord
when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur the son of Malkijah,
and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, saying,
2 (Jer 37:3; 37:7) "Please inquire of the Lord for us.
For Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is making war against us.
Perhaps the Lord will deal with us according to all His wondrous works,
so that the enemy withdraws from us."
3 Then Jeremiah said to them: Thus you shall say to Zedekiah:
4 (Jer 32:5; Isa 13:4) Thus says the Lord God of Israel: Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands with which you fight
against the king of Babylon and against the Chaldeans who besiege
you outside the walls; and I will assemble them into the midst of this city.
5 (Ex 6:6; Isa 5:25) I Myself will fight against you with an outstretched
hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath.
6 (Jer 32:24) I will strike the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast; they will die of a great pestilence.
7 (Jer 37:17; Eze 7:9) Afterwards, says the Lord, I will deliver Zedekiah
king of Judah and his servants and the people and such as are left
in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine
into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and
into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those
who seek their life. And he will strike them with the edge of the sword.
He will not spare them or have pity or mercy.
8 (Dt 30:15; 30:19) To this people you shall say: Thus says the Lord:
See, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death.
9 (Jer 38:2; 39:18; 45:5) He who abides in this city will die by the sword
and by the famine and by the pestilence. But he who goes out and falls
away to the Chaldeans who besiege you, he will live, and he will have
    his own life as booty.
10 (Jer 44:11; 52:13) For I have set My face against this city for disaster
and not for good, says the Lord. It will be given into the hand of
the king of Babylon, and he will burn it with fire.

    Jeremiah 21
[1] The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when king Zedekiah sent unto him Pashur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, saying,
[2] Inquire, I pray thee, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the LORD will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.
[3] Then said Jeremiah unto them, Thus shall ye say to Zedekiah:
[4] Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Behold, I will turn back the weapons
of war that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the king of
Babylon, and against the Chaldeans, which besiege you without the walls, and
I will assemble them into the midst of this city.
[5] And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath.
[6] And I will smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence.
[7] And afterward, saith the LORD, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah,
and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall smite them with the
edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy. [8] And unto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death.
[9] He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine,
and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans
that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey. [10] For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good,
saith the LORD: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and
he shall burn it with fire.
[11] And touching the house of the king of Judah, say, Hear ye the word of
    the LORD;
[12] O house of David, thus saith the LORD; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my
fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil
    of your doings.
[13] Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain, saith the LORD; which say, Who shall come down against us? or who
    shall enter into our habitations?
[14] But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the LORD: and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour
    all things round about it.

    2 Chronicles 36:1-4

    2 Chronicles 36

    Jehoahaz, King of Judah

    2Ki 23:31-34
1 (Jer 22:11) Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah
and made him king in the place of his father in Jerusalem.
2 And Jehoahaz was 23 years old when he began to reign,
and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.
3 Then the king of Egypt deposed him in Jerusalem and imposed on the land
a tribute of a hundred talents [About 33/4 tons, or 3.4 metric tons.]
of silver and a talent [About 75 pounds, or 34 kilograms.] of gold.
4 (Jer 22:10-12) The king of Egypt made his brother Eliakim king over Judah
and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. But Necho took his brother Jehoahaz and carried him to Egypt.

[1] Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made
him king in his father's stead in Jerusalem.
[2] Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.
[3] And the king of Egypt put him down at Jerusalem, and condemned the land
in an hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
[4] And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and turned his name to Jehoiakim. And Necho took Jehoahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.

    2 Kings 23:31-37

    Jehoahaz, King of Judah
    2Ch 36:2-4

    31 (2Ki 24:18; 1Ch 3:15) Jehoahaz was 23 years old when he became king,
and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
32 (2Ki 21:2-7) He did evil in the sight of the Lord,
according to all that his fathers had done.
    33 (1Ki 8:65; 2Ki 25:6) Pharaoh Necho imprisoned him at Riblah
in the land of Hamath, so that he might not reign in Jerusalem,
and imposed tribute on the land of a hundred talents
[About 3 3/4 tons, or 3.4 metric tons.] of silver and a talent
[About 75 pounds, or 34 kilograms.] of gold.
34 (Eze 19:3-4; 2Ki 24:17) Pharaoh Necho made Eliakim son of Josiah king
in place of Josiah his father and changed his name to Jehoiakim.
He took Jehoahaz away and went to Egypt, and he died there.
35 (2Ki 23:33) Jehoiakim gave the silver and gold to Pharaoh,
but he taxed the land to give the money according to Pharaoh's demand. According to an assessed amount, he exacted the silver
and gold from the people of the land to give to Pharaoh Necho.

[31] Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
[32] And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to
all that his fathers had done.
[33] And Pharaoh-nechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath,
that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.
[34] And Pharaoh-nechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.
[35] And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted
the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaoh-nechoh.

37 He did evil in the sight of the Lord,
according to all that his fathers had done.

[36] Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.

to reign, and he was king in Jerusalem for 11 years. He did what was evil
in the eyes of the Lord his God.

[5] Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the
sight of the LORD his God.

    Jeremiah 22:1-23

    Jeremiah 22

    Impending Judgment

1 Thus says the Lord: Go down to the house of the king of Judah,
    and speak this word there,
2 (Lk 1:32; Isa 9:7a) nd say: Hear the word of the Lord, O king of Judah
who sits on the throne of David, you and your servants
and your people who enter by these gates.
3 (Jer 21:12; 22:17) Thus says the Lord: Execute justice and righteousness,
and deliver the robbed out of the hand of the oppressor.
And do no wrong or violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.
4 (Jer 17:25) For if you indeed do these things, then kings sitting
on the throne of David will enter by the gates of this house,
riding in chariots and on horses, he and his servants and his people.
5 (Heb 6:13; Ge 22:16) But if you will not obey these words,
I swear by Myself, says the Lord, that this house will become a desolation.
6 (Ge 37:25; Ps 107:34) For thus says the Lord to the king's house of Judah: You are Gilead to Me,
    and the peak of Lebanon;
yet surely I will make you a wilderness
and cities which are not inhabited.
7 (Isa 37:24; 10:33-34) I will prepare destroyers against you,
    everyone with his weapons;
and they shall cut down your choice cedars
and cast them into the fire.
    8 (1Ki 9:8-9; 2Ch 7:20-22) Many nations will pass by this city,
and every man will say to his neighbour,
"Why has the Lord done thus to this great city?"
    9 (2Ki 22:17; 2Ch 34:25) Then they will answer,
"Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God,
and worshipped other gods, and served them."
10 (Ecc 4:2; Isa 57:1) Do not weep for the dead nor bemoan him,
    but weep constantly for him who goes away;
for he will return no more
    nor see his native country.
    11 (1Ch 3:15; 2Ch 36:1-4) For thus says the Lord concerning Shallum
the son of Josiah king of Judah, who became king instead of Josiah his father, who went from this place: He will not return any more,
12 (2Ki 23:34; Jer 22:18) but will die in the place
where they have led him captive
and will see this land no more.
13 (Lev 19:13; Mic 3:10) Woe to him who builds his house with unrighteousness and his chambers with injustice,
who uses his neighbor's services without wages,
and gives him nothing for his work,
    14 (2Sa 7:2; Isa 5:8-9) who says, "I will build myself a roomy house
    and large chambers,"
    and cuts out its windows,
    paneling it with cedar
    and painting it with vermilion.
    15 (2Ki 23:25; Isa 3:10; Jer 21:12) Do you reign
    because you compete in cedar?
Did not your father eat and drink
    and do justice and righteousness,
and then it was well with him?
    16 (Ps 72:1-4; 72:12-13) He judged the cause of the poor and needy;
then it was well with him.
Is not this what it means to know Me?
    says the Lord.
17 (2Ki 24:4; Jer 22:3) But your eyes and your heart
are intent only on your covetousness
    and on shedding innocent blood
    and on oppression and violence.
18 (1Ki 13:30; Jer 16:4) Therefore thus says the Lord concerning
Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah:
They will not lament for him, saying,
"Ah, my brother!" or, "Ah, sister!"
They will not lament for him, saying,
"Ah, lord!" or, "Ah, his glory!"
19 (Jer 36:30; 1Ki 21:23-24) He will be buried with the burial of a donkey, drawn and cast out
    beyond the gates of Jerusalem.
20 (Nu 27:12) Go up to Lebanon and cry out,
and lift up your voice in Bashan,
    and cry out from Abarim,
for all your lovers are destroyed.
21 (Jer 3:25; 32:30) I spoke to you in your prosperity,
but you said, "I will not listen!"
This has been your manner from your youth,
that you have not obeyed My voice.
22 (Jer 20:11) The wind will sweep away all your shepherds,
    and your lovers shall go into captivity;
surely then you will be ashamed and humiliated
    for all your wickedness.
    23 (Jer 6:24; 22:6) O inhabitant of Lebanon,
who makes your nest in the cedars,
how you will groan when pangs come upon you,
the pain as of a woman in labor!

    Jeremiah 22
[1] Thus saith the LORD; Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and
    speak there this word,
[2] And say, Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that sittest upon
the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates:
[3] Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver
the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no
violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed
    innocent blood in this place.
[4] For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates
of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and
on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.
[5] But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.
[6] For thus saith the LORD unto the king's house of Judah; Thou art Gilead unto me, and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness,
and cities which are not inhabited.
[7] And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons:
and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.
[8] And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man
to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?
[9] Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the
LORD their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.
[10] Weep ye not for the dead, neither bemoan him: but weep sore for him
that goeth away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.
[11] For thus saith the LORD touching Shallum the son of Josiah king of
Judah, which reigned instead of Josiah his father, which went forth out of
this place; He shall not return thither any more:
[12] But he shall die in the place whither they have led him captive, and
shall see this land no more.
[13] Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his
chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour's service without wages, and
    giveth him not for his work;
[14] That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and
cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.
[15] Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?
[16] He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him:
was not this to know me? saith the LORD.
[17] But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and
for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it. [18] Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah
king of Judah; They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! or, Ah sister! they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah lord! or, Ah his glory!
[19] He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth
    beyond the gates of Jerusalem.
[20] Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and lift up thy voice in Bashan, and cry
from the passages: for all thy lovers are destroyed.
[21] I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice.
[22] The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.
[23] O inhabitant of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how
gracious shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!

    2 Kings 24:1-4

    2 Kings 24

    Judah Overrun by Enemies

1 (Jer 25:1; Da 1:1) In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up,
and Jehoiakim became his servant for three years. Then he turned
    and rebelled against him.
2 (Jer 35:11; 2Ki 23:27; 6:23) The Lord sent against him bands of
Chaldeans, bands of Arameans, bands of Moabites, and bands of Ammonites.
He sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word
of the Lord that He spoke by His servants the prophets.
3 (2Ki 18:25) Surely at the decree of the Lord this came upon Judah,
to remove them from before Him, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all
    that he had done,
4 (2Ki 21:16) and also for the innocent blood that he had shed, for he
filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord was not willing to pardon.

    2 Kings 24
[1] In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years: then he turned and rebelled against him.
[2] And the LORD sent against him bands of the Chaldees, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD,
which he spake by his servants the prophets.
[3] Surely at the commandment of the LORD came this upon Judah, to remove
them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did; [4] And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem
with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.

    2 Kings 24:5-7

5 (2Ch 36:8) Now the rest of the deeds of Jehoiakim and all that he did,
are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?
6 (Jer 22:18-19; 2Ch 36:6) So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers,
and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.
7 (Jer 37:5-7; 46:2) The king of Egypt did not come again from his land,
for the king of Babylon had taken over from the Brook of Egypt to the River Euphrates all that belonged to the king of Egypt.

[5] Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they
not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
[6] So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in
    his stead.
[7] And the king of Egypt came not again any more out of his land: for the
king of Babylon had taken from the river of Egypt unto the river Euphrates
all that pertained to the king of Egypt.

    2 Chronicles 36:6-8

6 (2Ch 33:11) And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against him
and bound him in bronze chains to lead him to Babylon.
7 (2Ki 24:13) Nebuchadnezzar also brought out some of the vessels
of the house of the Lord to Babylon and put them in his temple in Babylon.
8 (2Ki 24:5-6) And the remainder of the acts of Jehoiakim, the detestable things that he did and were found against him, are written in the book
of the kings of Israel and Judah. Then Jehoiachin his son reigned
    in his place.

[6] Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.
[7] Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the LORD to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.
[8] Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he
did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book
of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his
    stead.

    2 Kings 24

8 (1Ch 3:16; 2Ch 36:9) Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king. He reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother's name was Ne-!hushta
    daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.
9 He did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father
    had done.

[8] Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned
in Jerusalem three months. And his mother's name was Nehushta, the daughter
    of Elnathan of Jerusalem.
[9] And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to
all that his father had done.

    2 Chronicles 36:9

9 Jehoiachin was 18 years old when he began to reign, and he was
king in Jerusalem for three months and ten days. He did what was evil
in the eyes of the Lord.

[9] Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned
three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in
    the sight of the LORD.

    Jeremiah 22:24-30

24 (SS 8:6; Jer 37:1) As I live, says the Lord, though Koniah
the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet on My right hand,
yet would I pluck you from there.
25 (2Ki 24:15-16; Jer 21:7) And I will give you into the hand of those
who seek your life and into the hand of those whose face you fear,
even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Bab-!ylon
and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
26 (2Ki 24:15; 24:8) I will cast you and your mother that bore you out
into another country where you were not born, and there you shall die.
27 But to the land where they desire to return, they will not return there.
28 (Ps 31:12; Jer 48:38) Is this man Koniah a despised broken jar?
Is he a vessel in which is no desire?
Why are he and his seed cast out
and thrown into a land which they had not known?
    29 (Jer 6:19; Mic 1:2) O land, land, land,
hear the word of the Lord!
30 (Ps 94:20; Jer 36:30) Thus says the Lord:
    Write down this man childless,
    a man who will not prosper in his days;
for no man of his seed shall prosper,
sitting on the throne of David
and ruling any more in Judah.

    [24] As I live, saith the LORD, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence;
[25] And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of
Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
[26] And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.
[27] But to the land whereunto they desire to return, thither shall they not return.
[28] Is this man Coniah a despised broken idol? is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? wherefore are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not?
[29] O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.
[30] Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.

What My Rental Car Taught Me</a> By Adam R. Holz

    1 Corinthians 6:12-20

    Glorify God in Your Body

12 "All things are lawful to me," but not all things are helpful.
"All things are lawful for me," but I will not be brought
    under the power of anything.
13 (Mt 15:17; 1Co 6:15) "Food is for the belly, and the belly is for food,"
but God will destroy both of them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body.
14 (Ac 2:24; Eph 1:19-20) God has raised up the Lord and will also raise us
    up by His own power.
15 (Ro 12:5; 1Co 12:27) Do you not know that your bodies are the parts
of Christ? Shall I then take the parts of Christ and make them the parts
    of a harlot? God forbid!
16 (Ge 2:24; Eph 5:31) What? Do you not know that he who is joined
to a harlot is one body with her? For "the two," He says,
    "shall become one flesh."(Ge 2:24.)
17 (Jn 17:21-23) But he who is joined to the Lord becomes
    one spirit with Him.
    18 (Heb 13:4; 2Co 12:21) Escape from sexual immorality.
Every sin that a man commits is outside the body.
But he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
19 (1Co 3:16; Jn 2:21) What? Do you not know that your body is the temple
of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God,
and that you are not your own?
    20 (1Co 7:23; Ac 20:28; Ro 12:1) You were bought with a price.
Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

[12] All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. [13] Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy
both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
[14] And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his
    own power.
[15] Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then
take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God
    forbid.
[16] What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
[17] But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
[18] Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but
he that commiteth fornication sinneth against his own body.
[19] What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which
is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
[20] For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and
in your spirit, which are God's.

I recently traveled to Los Angeles and had to rent a car. Soon, I was driving through narrow downtown lanes, full of traffic and people. I found myself driving very carefully, slower than normal. Why? Well, I didn't want to have an accident. But I really didn't want to damage my rental car. It wasn't mine, after all. I was just, well, borrowing it.

Most of the time, we'd rather be owners than renters. But as I drove, I couldn't help but think that renting that car illustrated something important about my relationship to God.

Scripture teaches that even our bodies - which we might think we own - don't belong to us. In a larger conversation about sexual sin in 1 Corinthians 6, Paul concludes, "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies" (vv. 19-20).

I'll admit, it's hard to completely comprehend that my body isn't my own. Still, God calls us to honour Him with it. To care for our bodies. To realise that we're stewards - renters, if you will - of these vessels He's given us, that we might use them to honour and serve the one whose own broken body
    and blood saves us.

    Reflect & Pray

How do you respond to the idea that God wants us to honour Him with
our bodies? How could this truth change how you live?

Dear Father, thank You for the amazing gift of my body.
Please help me to honour You by using it to love and serve others today.

Week 8 Guided by Grace Day 3 - The Promise of Completion

    Philippians 1:6

    6 (1Co 1:8; Jn 6:29) I am confident of this very thing,
that He who began a good work in you will perfect it
until the day of Jesus Christ.

6 being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun
a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

"Elizabeth is a good student", the note on the side of the report card read, "but she doesn't finish what she starts. She has a lot of good ideas, but rarely brings then to completion."
Many of us are like Elizabeth. We start into a new venture with high hopes
and great motivation. But somewhere along the way, we become discouraged. Someone tells us that our ideas are stupid, or that we are not capable of
doing what we dream. We get a particularly difficult hurdle and give up. Sometimes we fell the Christian like is like that, too. We start well, and believe that in Christ we can accomplish anything. But then our prayers
become rote, our Bible reading ritual. We can't seem to regain that sense
of God's presence; we have, we conclude, "Lost our first love." (Rev 2)
    But God has a different perspective. He began the work of salvation in us;
he leads and guides us in his will, and he will complete what he has begun. Often we fail to see God's grace in the ongoing process of walking with him because his agenda is different from ours. We know what we want to see
happen in our lives; God knows what needs to happen.
"When I first came into a relationship with Christ," one woman explained,
"I knew I had a lot of changing to do. But, strangely enough, the things God changed weren't on my list at all!"
When God begins his work in our lives, he has a plan for our maturity.
He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. And what God
    has begun, he will finish.

    Application

    a) Have I ever tried to "decide" for God what problems in my life
    needed dealing with?

    b) Has God ever pointed out issues that were a surprise to me?

    c) How can today's verse help me relax in God's will and
have confidence in the direction of my life?

    4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

    2 Cor 8:9

9 (Mt 20:28; 2Co 6:10; 13:14) For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor,
that through His poverty you might be rich.

9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich,
yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

    Spiritual Blessings in Christ

3 (2Co 1:3; Eph 6:12; 2:6) Blessed be the God and Father of
our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual
blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
4 (Eph 5:27; Col 1:22) just as He chose us in Him
before the foundation of the world, to be holy
    and blameless before Him in love;
5 (Ro 8:29-30; Eph 1:11) He predestined us to adoption as sons
to Himself through Jesus Christ according to the good pleasure
    of His will,
6 (Mt 3:17; Eph 1:12) to the praise of the glory of His grace
which He graciously bestowed on us in the Beloved.
7 (Ro 3:24; Ac 2:38; 20:28) In Him we have redemption through His blood
and the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace,
    8 which He lavished

3 Blessed be the God and Father of
our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual
blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 according as he hath chosen us in him
before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy
and without blame before him in love:
5 having predestinated us unto the adoption of children
by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure
    of his will,
6 to the praise of the glory of his grace,
wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood,
    the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
    8 wherein he hath abounded

    The Lord's prayer

    Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:
Our Father who is in heaven,
    hallowed be Your name.
    10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;
    Your will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.
11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.
12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,
    as we forgive our debtors.
13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

    6) This come from Praying for Muslims in Canada 2015 (Is there a 2021 edition?)

    New Brunswick

    Total population 753900
    Muslim population (est.) 4543

Moncton, followed by Fredericton and Saint John, each have a growing Muslim population in New Brunswick, In 2007, the building that was formerly a Baptist church was converted into Moncton's 1st mosque. The University of Moncton
also has a Muslim student association hosting prayer services, fellowship getherings, and outreaches on campus.
Fredericton also has one mosque and a Muslim student association serving the campuses of the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University. Fredericton's Muslim population consists in 2014 of about 50 families,
and between 300 to 400 university students.
Saint John is home to the 1st Muslim Association for the province,
which also helped foster the Islamic associations of Fredericton and Moncton.
a 'musalla', or prayer location that is not officially structured as a mosque, has been established in the Uptown area with the intention of seeing it grow into a 2nd official place of Muslim worship. Demand for this new location has been primarily for university students moving into the area.

Pray for Muslims and New Brunswick
    - that the eyes of pastors, believers and entire congregations will be opened to see this growing body of Muslims, and their hearts will be opened
to sharing God's love in Jesus Christ with them

    - that intentional ministries to Muslims will grow and flourish in these
    areas of concentration

    - that cooperative CNNMM Networks will form to really, encourage,
and equip believers to lovingly reach Muslims in this province.

    Adding further

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

    Under the Keep Praying page

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and, of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
    which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you know, and Muslims around the world:
    - Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other, "What does this mean?"
13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."

    Peter's Speech at Pentecost

14 (Ac 1:26) But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice
and said to them, "Men of Judea and all you who dwell in Jerusalem,
let this be known to you, and listen to my words.
15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose,
since it is the third hour of the day.
16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 (Isa 44:3; Ac 10:45) 'In the last days it shall be,' says God,
    'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams.'

    - Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective discipleship movements among Muslim people.

    - Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the house."

    Ideas for prayer

    - Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
    - Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
    - When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

    And

Thank you for praying through the
5 Days of Prayer for Sikhs.

"My name is Kam. I'm 29 years of age, and I grew up Sikh. As a teenager,
I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to
cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.

Then a friend invited me to church. As I spent time with Christians
and heard the message of the Gospel, I experienced the
love of Jesus Christ, and it was like nothing I'd known before.
One night I had a dream where I saw Him - a figure surrounded by
light who I knew was Jesus, the light of the world.

As I began to understand the gospel message, I encountered a reassuring and confident solution to the problem of sin. I knew that I needed a solution
to my sin problem, and I gave my life to Christ.

Slowly, God began to heal my broken heart and my addiction.
Nine years have passed, and I am a devoted husband and a father
to two beautiful boys. I grow deeper in love with Jesus each day.

I ask you to continue praying with me, and others around the world, for Sikhs. God is the only one who can draw people to Himself. He works in and through the prayers of His people. I want Sikhs to know the freedom
and healing that is only available through Jesus Christ."

13 (Ro 14:17; 12:12) Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy
and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope,
through the power of the Holy Spirit.

[13] Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that
ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
