Proverbs 27

Proverbs 28

3 A poor man who oppresses the poor
is like a sweeping rain that leaves no food.
4 (1Ki 18:18; Mt 3:7) Those who forsake instruction praise the wicked,
but such as keep instruction contend with them.
5 (Ps 92:6; Jn 7:17) Evil men do not understand justice,
but those who seek the Lord understand all things.
6 (Pr 19:1; 28:18) Better is the poor who walks in his uprightness
than he who is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
7 (Pr 29:3) Whoever keeps the law is a wise son,
but he who is a companion of riotous men shames his father.

Proverbs 29
1 (Pr 6:15; 1Sa 2:25) He who is often reproved, yet hardens his neck,
will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
2 (Est 8:15; Pr 28:12) When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people mourn.
3 (Pr 10:1; Lk 15:30) Whoever loves wisdom rejoices his father,
but he who keeps company with harlots spends his substance.
4 (Pr 29:14) The king establishes the land by judgment,
but he who receives bribes overthrowsit.
5 (Ps 5:9 ) A man who flatters his neighbor
spreads a net for his feet.
6 (Ecc 9:12) In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare,
but the righteous sing and rejoice.
7 (Job 29:16; Ps 41:1) The righteous considers the cause of the poor,
but the wicked regards not to know it.

9 If a wise man contends with a foolish man,
whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.

12 If a ruler listens to lies,

The Lord gives light to the eyes of both.

Job 12:13

13 "With Him are wisdom and strength; He has counsel and understanding.

[13] With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

"I know you better than you know yourself!" As a young man, I heard that confident declaration from a friend. Her intentions were good, but my complicated life as an adopted missionary kid had been shaped across
four continents and cultures. She didn't really know me.

Zophar, a friend of Job's, sounded wise in his assessment of Job's difficulties. "Can you fathom the mysteries of God?" Zophar asked
him (Job 11:7). "They are higher than the heavens above" (v. 8). Who can argue with that? But then Zophar dared speak of something he couldn't know: Job's heart. Without evidence, he proclaimed, "If you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent, then . . . you will stand firm and without fear" (vv. 14-15).

Job responded sarcastically, "Wisdom will die with you! But I have a mind as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Who does not know all these things?" (12:2-3). Job's reality was so complex that even he didn't know what was taking place (see Job 1-2). He correctly said, "To God belong wisdom
and power" (12:13). It didn't come from Zophar, who presumed to have authority and insight that weren't his.

Our friends may need our loving counsel from time to time. But usually friends in crisis need us to bring their names in prayer to the one who truly does know them.

A new employee in an electronics plant had the responsibility
for overseeing one machine. The machine worked fine when the young man
came on duty, but soon it began to run a bit rough. The employee
tinkered with the machine, trying to "fix" it, until finally if stopped
working altogether
In fear and trembling the worker sent for the foreman, and stammered,
"I - I, well, sir, I did my best to fix it."
"Son", the foreman thundered, "you need to know only one thing. Around
here, doing you best means sending for me!"
Wisdom, James 1:5 says, has its source in God alone. And if we are
to attain wisdom, we need to learn doing our best means sending for God.
Often we spend time tinkering with our lives or the the lives of others.
We don't think to as God for his wisdom in the decisions we must take;
instead, we use our human reasoning and take our best guess.
But the path to wisdom does not lie in guesswork. The scriptures
give us clear indication of God's direction for his people, and through Bible study, application, prayer, and meditation,
we can understand what God wants to reveal to us.
"If any of you lacks wisdom," James says, "he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him."
The first step to attaining wisdom is recognising that we are not wise.
The second step is to ask. And God, who is faithful to his Word
and His people, will respond.

of Muslims live in the greater Montreal area. n fact, 23% of Canada's Muslim population live in Quebec. Why is that? It is largely because Francophone African Muslims are attracted to La Belle Provence.
And here's an interesting, perhaps even shocking fact: There are more
Muslims in Montreal than there are evangelical Christians.
This is one demographic factor creates a challenging environment for churches and believers here: The size of the available 'workforce' is small
by comparison to begin with. Believers are already is a host culture that
is often either indifferent to religion or resistant to it. And now
this 'new' religious community of Muslims - many of whom do not visibly
or socially conform to Quebec society - are a growing population. It might br easy for Christians to feel overwhelm by this cultural double-whammy,
yet God has always worked miracles through the small, the few.
Agree in prayer for :

- The people of Quebec, Muslim or otherwise, to be open to the Gospel
- for Muslims who are encountering believers and responding
-for a new group of Muslim background believers who are meeting
together for worship!
- For pastors and believers to be full of passion, faith and vision for
reaching Muslims in Quebec.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and, of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below: blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes. 21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

I) Pray for the leaders of Ontario,
that God's Spirit would influence
