Ezra 6: Building a House for GodrCOs Glory
God moves the hearts of kings to fulfill His word. This passage shows how God provides for His people and restores their worship through His sovereign power.
You should build God's spiritual house.
By trusting GodrCOs promises (1-5)
The king searches the royal archives and reaffirms the original order of Cyrus to rebuild GodrCOs house in Jerusalem.
Christ is the final word of God who confirms all the promises of the Father to His people (2 Corinthians 1:20). The believer should rest in the certainty that God moves the hearts of world leaders to ensure His redemptive purposes are fulfilled (Proverbs 21:1).
By supporting GodrCOs work (6-12)
Darius commands the local governors to provide resources and protection so that the work on the temple may continue without hindrance.
The gospel removes the need for physical structures by making the believerrCOs body the true temple where God dwells (1 Corinthians 6:19). The believer should use their earthly resources and influence to advance the spiritual building of the church across all nations (Matthew 28:19-20).
By offering spiritual sacrifices (13-18)
The exiles celebrate the completion of the building by offering sacrifices and appointing priests to serve according to the law.
The sacrifice of Jesus ended the need for animal blood because His one death perfectly pays for every sin (Hebrews 10:12-14). The believer should offer their whole life as a living sacrifice of praise and service to God in response to His great mercy (Romans 12:1).
By walking in purity (19-22)
The people purify themselves and feast with joy because the Lord turned the heart of the king to help them.
True purity comes not through ritual washing but through the blood of Christ which cleanses the conscience from dead works (Hebrews 9:14). The believer should walk in holiness and participate in the joy of the Lord, celebrating the victory Christ won over sin and death (1 Corinthians 5:7-8).
Invitation
Just as the Jews needed the temple to approach God, we need a way to be right with our Creator. The good news is that Jesus Christ is the perfect Savior who died for our sins and rose again to give us eternal life (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). His death paid the full price for our rebellion, satisfying God's justice so we can be forgiven (Romans 3:24-26). If you trust in Him, you are no longer a stranger to God but His own child, forever safe in His grace (John 1:12). If you reject Him, you remain under the weight of your own sin, separated from the only source of life (John 3:36). Rely on Christ today and call on the name of the Lord to save you, trusting only in His finished work on your behalf (Romans 10:13).

Good News rCa
Christ's death on a cross paid the debt we owe God for our sins (Colossians 2:14). The proof is God raised Him from the dead (Romans 1:4).
This means God can now remain right, while forgiving our sins (Romans 3:26) and delivering us from His coming wrath (1 Thessalonians 1:10). It's a free gift for those who believe in Christ (Romans 6:23).
If you believe, call on the Lord to save you (Romans 10:9-13).
