Short & Concise: Zombies
Can they really exist? If they do, what are they? Notice Wikipedia,
"The term comes from Haitian folklore, in which a zombie is a dead
body reanimated through magic by a sorcerer."
Thus when doctors bring a person back to life from a dangerous
operation, by definition he is not a zombie.
Voodoo priests can simulate death by giving him strong drugs, like
neurotoxins. One such concoction is tetrodotoxin extracted from puffer
fish. It causes paralysis and lowers the heart beat so slow, that they
are pronounced dead. They then are buried. Then later, the priest
gives them the antidote which makes him appear to resurrect him, which
makes him a zombie.
But it doesn't end there. The 'zombie' has to become a slave to the
priest for as long as the priest wants.
In one case the slave zombie worked for the priest for many years.
Then the zombie was returned to his family which was quite a shock to
them.
As Christians, we need to review Deut 18:10-12 to see what God thinks
of such things:
10. "There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or
his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft,
or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,
11. "or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one
who calls up the dead.
12. "For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and
because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from
before you. (NKJV)
