Day 122, 2 May 2025

1) 2 Samuel 5:11-6:23 , 1 Chronicles 13-16

David Conquers Jerusalem

1Ch 3:5-9; 11:4-9; 14:1-7

11 (1Ch 14:1; 1Ki 5:1-2) King Hiram of Tyre sent messengers to David
with cedar wood, carpenters, and stonemasons,
and they built a house for David.
12 Then David understood that the Lord had appointed him king over Israel,
and that He had exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.
13 (1Ch 3:9; Dt 17:17) David took more concubines and wives in Jerusalem,
after having come from Hebron, and they bore him more sons and daughters.
14 These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem:
Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
15 Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia,
16 Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet.

[11] And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house.
[12] And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.
[13] And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.
[14] And these be the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
[15] Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
[16] And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.

David Defeats the Philistines
1Ch 14:8-17

17 (2Sa 23:14; 1Ch 11:16) When the Philistines heard that they had
anointed David king over Israel, all of the Philistines went up
to search for David, but David heard about this and went down
to the stronghold.
18 (Jos 15:8; Ge 14:5) Now the Philistines had come
and were spread out in the Valley of Rephaim.
19 (2Sa 2:1; 1Sa 23:2) So David asked the Lord,
"Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You give them into my hand?"
The Lord said to David, "Go up, because I will certainly
give them into your hand."
20 (Isa 28:21) So David came to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there.
He said, "The Lord has breached my enemies before me like bursting tides." Therefore, he named that place Baal Perazim.
21 (Dt 7:5) The Philistines abandoned their idols there,
and David and his men carried them away.
22 Once again, the Philistines went up
and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim.
23 When David inquired of the Lord, He said,
"You shall not go up. Circle around behind them and come against them
opposite the trees.
24 (Jdg 4:14; 2Ki 7:6) When you hear the sound of marching in the tops
of the trees, pay attention, because at that point the Lord is going
before you to defeat the army of the Philistines."
25 (1Ch 14:16) So David did just as the Lord commanded,
and he defeated the Philistines from Geba as far as Gezer.

[17] But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it,
and went down to the hold.
[18] The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of
Rephaim.
[19] And David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the
Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand. [20] And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said,
The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim.
[21] And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.
[22] And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the
valley of Rephaim.
[23] And when David inquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
[24] And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of
the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
[25] And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the
Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.

2 SAMUEL 6

The Ark Brought to Jerusalem

1Ch 13:1-14; 15:25-16:3

1 Again David gathered all of the chosen men in Israel, 20000.
2 (1Sa 4:4; 7:1) David and all of the people who were with him
arose and went from Baalah of Judah to bring up the ark of God,
so named for the name of the Lord of Hosts who sits enthroned
among the cherubim that are upon it.
3 (1Sa 6:7) They loaded the ark of God on a new cart
and brought it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill.
Uzzah and Ahio the sons of Abinadab were driving the new cart.
4 (1Ch 13:7) They brought it with the ark of God from the house
of Abinadab on the hill, and Ahio was walking in front of the ark.
5 (1Ch 13:8; Ps 150:3-5) Meanwhile, David and the entire house of Israel
were celebrating before the Lord with all sorts of instruments
made of fir wood, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines,
on sistrums, and on cymbals.
6 (Nu 4:15; 1Ch 13:9) When they came to the threshing floor of Nakon,
Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark of God,
because the oxen had stumbled.
7 (1Sa 6:19; 1Ch 15:13) The Lord became angry against Uzzah,
and God struck him down on the spot for his irreverence.
He died there beside the ark of God.
8 David became angry because of the outburst of the Lord against Uzzah;
that place is called Perez Uzzah to this day.
9 (Ps 119:120) David feared the Lord that day, and he thought,
"How can the ark of the Lord come to me?"
10 (1Ch 26:4-8) So David did not allow the ark of the Lord
to be brought to him in the City of David. Instead,
David redirected it to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
11 (Ge 30:27; 39:5) The ark of the Lord remained at the house of Obed-Edom
the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-Edom
and his entire household.
12 (1Ki 8:1) When it was reported to King David,
"The Lord has blessed Obed-Edom and everything that belongs to him,
for the sake of the ark of God," David went and brought up the ark of God
from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with rejoicing.
13 (1Ki 8:5; Nu 4:15) When those who were carrying the ark of the Lord
had taken six steps, David would sacrifice an ox and a fattened steer.
14 (Ex 15:20; 1Sa 2:18) David danced before the Lord with all of his might,
and he wore a linen ephod.
15 So David and the whole house of Israel escorted the ark of the Lord
with shouting and the sound of the horn.
16 (1Ch 15:29; 2Sa 3:14) When the ark of the Lord entered the City of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked down from the window,
and upon seeing King David leaping and dancing before the Lord,
she thought contemptuously of him in her mind.
17 (1Ch 15:1; 2Ch 1:4) They brought the ark of the Lord
and set it in its place inside the tent that David had erected for it.
Then David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.
18 (1Ki 8:55) When David had finished offering the burnt offerings
and peace offerings, he blessed the people before the Lord of Hosts.
19 (Ne 8:10) He distributed to all of the people, the entire multitude
of Israel, both men and women, one bread cake, one date cake,
and one raisin cake to each one.
Then all of the people left, each to his house.
20 (2Sa 6:16; 6:14; Jdg 9:4) David returned to bless his household,
but Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet him. She said,
"How the king of Israel has dignified himself today, exposing himself
this day in the sight of his servant's slave girls like one of the rabble
might shamelessly expose himself."
21 (1Sa 13:14; 15:28) Then David responded to Michal, "It was
before the Lord, who chose me over your father
and over everyone in his household, to appoint me ruler
over the people of the Lord, over Israel.
I was celebrating before the Lord.
22 I will humble myself even more than this and be abased in my own eyes.
But by the maidservants, of whom you have spoken, I will be held in honor."
23 (Mt 1:25) Michal the daughter of Saul
had no children to the day of her death.

2 Samuel 6
[1] Again, David gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.
[2] And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from
Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called
by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubims.
[3] And they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of
Abinadab, drave the new cart.
[4] And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah, accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark.
[5] And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all
manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries,
and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.
[6] And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand
to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.
[7] And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.
[8] And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perez-uzzah to this day.
[9] And David was afraid of the LORD that day, and said, How shall the ark
of the LORD come to me?
[10] So David would not remove the ark of the LORD unto him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
[11] And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months: and the LORD blessed Obed-edom, and all his household.
[12] And it was told king David, saying, The LORD hath blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into
the city of David with gladness.
[13] And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the LORD had gone
six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.
[14] And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was
girded with a linen ephod.
[15] So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD
with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
[16] And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing
before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.
[17] And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in
the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
[18] And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and
peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts.
[19] And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a
good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed every
one to his house.
[20] Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel
to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!
[21] And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me
before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.
[22] And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own
sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.
[23] Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.

1 CHRONICLES 13

The Ark
2Sa 6:1-11
1 So David conferred with the captains of the thousands and of the hundreds
and with every leader.
2 (1Sa 31:1) Then he said to all the assembly of Israel, "If it seems good to you and to the Lord our God, let us send word to the rest of our brothers throughout all the land of Israel along with the priests and the Levites
in their cities, that they might join us here.
3 (1Sa 7:1-2) Then let us bring the ark of the Lord our God back to us,
for we did not seek it during the days of Saul."
4 Then all the assembly agreed to do it because the thing seemed
right in the eyes of all the people.
5 (1Sa 6:21-7:1; 2Sa 6:1) So David assembled all Israel, from Shihor
in Egypt as far as the entrance to Hamath, in order to bring the ark
of God from Kiriath Jearim.
6 (Jos 15:9; Ex 25:22) And he went up with all Israel to Baalah,
that is, to Kiriath Jearim, which belongs to Judah, to bring up
the ark of God, the Lord who dwells between the cherubim,
where His name is called.
7 (Nu 4:15) They transported the ark of God on a new cart
from the house of Abinadab with Uzzah and Ahio driving
the cart
8 while David and all Israel played music before God with all their might, performing songs on lyres, harps, tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.
9 (2Sa 6:6) When they had come as far as the threshing floor of Kidon,
Uzzah stretched out his hand to take hold of the ark because the oxen
had stumbled on the path.
10 (1Ch 15:13; 15:15) Then the anger of the Lord burned against Uzzah,
and He struck him because he reached his hand out to touch the ark.
Thus, Uzzah died there before God.
11 Now David was angry because the Lord struck out against Uzzah,
so he called that place Perez Uzzah, as it is to this day.
12 David was afraid of God that day, saying,
"How can I ever bring the ark of God to myself?"
13 (1Ch 15:18; 26:4) So David stopped moving the ark of God to himself
in the City of David and diverted it to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite,
14 (1Ch 26:4-5) and while the ark of God stayed in his house three months,
the Lord blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all he had.

[1] And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and
with every leader.
[2] And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good
unto
you, and that it be of the LORD our God, let us send abroad unto our
brethren every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with
them
also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:
[3] And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we inquired not at
it in the days of Saul.
[4] And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
[5] So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even unto
the entering of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjath-jearim.
[6] And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to
Kirjath-jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God
the LORD, that dwelleth between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.
[7] And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of
Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart.
[8] And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and
with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and
with cymbals, and with trumpets.
[9] And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth
his
hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.
[10] And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.
[11] And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon
Uzza:
wherefore that place is called Perez-uzza to this day.
[12] And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the
ark
of God home to me?
[13] So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
[14] And the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that he
had.

1 CHRONICLES 14
David Established at Jerusalem
2Sa 5:11-25; 1Ch 3:5-8
1 (2Sa 5:11-16; 2Ch 2:3) Then Hiram the king of Tyre sent messengers
to David with cedar wood, stonemasons, and carpenters to build
a palace for him.
2 (Nu 24:7) So David knew that the Lord had established him as king
over Israel because his kingdom was highly exalted for the sake
of His people Israel.
3 Now David took more wives in Jerusalem,
and David became the father of more sons and daughters.
4 (1Ch 3:5-9) These are the names of the children who were born to him
in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,
6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,
72 (Sa 5:16; 1Ch 3:8) Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
David Defeats the Philistines
8 Now when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king
over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek out David,
but David heard and went out to them.
9 (1Ch 11:15; 14:13) So the Philistines came
and raided the Valley of Rephaim.
10 Then David inquired of the Lord, saying,
"Should I go up against the Philistines? Will You give them into my hand?"
The Lord answered, "Go up against them, and I will give them into your hand." 11 (Isa 28:21) And they went up to Baal Perazim, and David struck them down there. Then David said, "God broke through my enemies by my hand
as the breaking through of waters." Therefore they named that place
Baal Perazim.
12 (Ex 32:20) They abandoned their gods there, and David said that they
should be burned with fire.
13 (1Ch 14:9) Now the Philistines raided the valley once more.
14 And David again inquired of God, and God answered him:
"Do not go up after them, but turn around behind them
and come to them in front of the balsam trees.
15 Whenever you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees,
you will advance the battle, for God has gone out before you to strike
the camp of the Philistines."
16 David did just as God commanded him, and they struck the camp
of the Philistines from Gibeon as far as Gezer.
17 (Dt 2:25; Ex 15:14-16) So the fame of David went out in all the lands,
and the Lord put the dread of him on all the nations.

[1] Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars,
with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.
[2] And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel,
for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.
[3] And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters.
[4] Now these are the names of his children which he had in Jerusalem;
Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
[5] And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
[6] And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
[7] And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.
[8] And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it,
and went out against them.
[9] And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. [10] And David inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the
Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said
unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.
[11] So they came up to Baal-perazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking
forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim. [12] And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
[13] And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.
[14] Therefore David inquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the
mulberry trees.
[15] And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of
the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.
[16] David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of
the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.
[17] And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.

1 CHRONICLES 15
The Ark Brought to Jerusalem
2Sa 6:12-19
1 (1Ch 16:1; 15:3) So David built houses for himself in the City of David,
and he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it.
2 (Dt 10:8; 31:9) Then David said, "No one may carry the ark of God
except the Levites since the Lord chose them to carry the ark of the
Lord and to minister before Him always."
3 (1Ki 8:1; 1Ch 13:5) David assembled all Israel to Jerusalem in order
to bring up the ark of the Lord to the place he had prepared for it.
4 And David gathered representatives of the sons of Aaron and the Levites,
as follows:
5 from the sons of Kohath,
Uriel the leader and one hundred and twenty of his brothers;
6 from the sons of Merari,
Asaiah the leader and two hundred and twenty of his brothers;
7 from the sons of Gershom,
Joel the leader and one hundred and thirty of his brothers;
8 (Ex 6:22) from the sons of Elizaphan,
Shemaiah the leader and two hundred of his brothers;
9 (Ex 6:18) from the sons of Hebron,
Eliel the leader and eighty of his brothers;
10 from the sons of Uzziel,
Amminadab the leader and one hundred and twelve of his brothers.
11 (1Ch 12:28; 1Sa 22:20-23) Then David called for Zadok and Abiathar
the priests and for the Levites: Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel,
and Amminadab.
12 (2Ch 35:6; Ex 19:14-15) He said to them, "You are the captains
of the fathers' houses for the Levites. Consecrate yourselves, you
and your brothers, so you may bring up the ark of the Lord,
the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it
13 (2Sa 6:3) because on the first attempt without you the Lord
struck out against us since we did not seek Him properly."
14 So the priests and the Levites consecrated themselves to bring up
the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel.
15 (Nu 4:15; 7:9) The sons of the Levites lifted up the ark of God just
as Moses commanded, with the poles on their shoulders,
according to the word of the Lord.
16 (1Ch 13:8; 16:42) Then David told the leaders of the Levites
to position their brothers the singers with musical instruments,
harps, lyres, and cymbals to resound with joyful songs.
17 (1Ch 6:33; 6:39) So the Levites placed Heman the son of Joel,
and from his brothers, Asaph the son of Berekiah, and from
their brothers the sons of Merari, Ethan the son of Kushaiah,
18 (1Ch 26:4) and with them their brothers of the second rank:
Zechariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah,
Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel,
the gatekeepers.
19 (1Ch 25:6) So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were directed
to sound cymbals of brass.
20 Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah,
and Benaiah were to accompany with harps on Alamoth.
21 Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel,
and Azaziah were to lead with lyres on the Sheminith.
22 Kenaniah, leader of the Levites, was to conduct the music
because he was skillful.
23 Berekiah and Elkanah were gatekeepers for the ark.
24 (1Ch 16:6; Nu 10:8) Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai,
Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, were assigned
to sound trumpets before the ark of God. Obed-Edom
and Jehiah were gatekeepers for the ark.
25 So David, the elders of Israel, and the leaders of the thousands
went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord
from the house of Obed-Edom with rejoicing.
26 (Nu 23:29; Job 42:8) Since God helped the Levites who carried
the ark of the covenant of the Lord, they sacrificed seven bulls
and seven rams.
27 (2Sa 6:14) Now David was clothed in a fine linen robe,
as were the Levites who carried the ark, the singers, and Kenaniah,
the conductor of singing and singers. David himself wore a linen ephod.
28 (1Ch 13:8; 15:16) So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with a shout and with the sound of the ram's horn and with trumpets
and cymbals, making music on harps and lyres.
29 (2Sa 6:16) Now as the ark of the covenant of the Lord was entering
the City of David, Michal the daughter of Saul was looking down
from the window, and when she saw King David dancing and spinning,
she despised him in her heart.

[1] And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.
[2] Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him
for ever.
[3] And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark
of the LORD unto his place, which he had prepared for it.
[4] And David assembled the children of Aaron, and the Levites:
[5] Of the sons of Kohath; Uriel the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twenty:
[6] Of the sons of Merari; Asaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred
and twenty:
[7] Of the sons of Gershom; Joel the chief, and his brethren an hundred and thirty:
[8] Of the sons of Elizaphan; Shemaiah the chief, and his brethren two
hundred:
[9] Of the sons of Hebron; Eliel the chief, and his brethren fourscore:
[10] Of the sons of Uzziel; Amminadab the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twelve.
[11] And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the
Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,
[12] And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark
of the LORD God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.
[13] For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.
[14] So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the
ark of the LORD God of Israel.
[15] And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their
shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word
of the LORD.
[16] And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren
to be the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and
cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.
[17] So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren,
Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan
the son of Kushaiah;
[18] And with them their brethren of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, the porters.
[19] So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound with cymbals of brass;
[20] And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries on Alamoth;
[21] And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel,
and Azaziah, with harps on the Sheminith to excel.
[22] And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was for song: he instructed about
the song, because he was skilful.
[23] And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.
[24] And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and
Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the trumpets before the ark of God: and Obed-edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the
ark.
[25] So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands,
went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obed-edom with joy.
[26] And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of
the covenant of the LORD, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.
[27] And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites
that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song
with the singers: David also had upon him an ephod of linen.
[28] Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.
[29] And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.

1 CHRONICLES 16
The Ark Set in the Tent

1 (1Ch 15:1) So they brought in the ark of God, placed it in the midst
of the tent that David had erected for it, and drew near to God with
burnt offerings and peace offerings.
2 When David had finished offering the burnt offerings
and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord.
3 Then he distributed to all the children of Israel, both men and women,
a loaf of bread, a piece of meat, and a raisin cake for each.
4 And he appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, to commemorate, to thank, and to praise the Lord God of Israel:
5 (1Ch 6:39) Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, and Obed-Edom:
Jeiel with stringed instruments and harps, but Asaph made music
with the cymbals.
6 Moreover, Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests sounded trumpets
continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

[1] So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace
offerings before God.
[2] And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
[3] And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine.
[4] And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of
the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:
[5] Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed-edom: and Jeiel
with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals;
[6] Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before
the ark of the covenant of God.

David's Psalm of Thanksgiving
Ps 96:1-13; 105:1-15; 106:1, 47-48

7 (2Sa 22:1) On that day then, David delivered for the first time this psalm
of thanksgiving to the Lord into the hand of Asaph and his brothers:
8 (2Ki 19:19; Ps 105:1-15) Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name;
make known His deeds among the peoples.
9 Sing to Him, sing praise to Him,
recount all His wonders.
10 Glory in His holy name;
let the heart of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
11 (Ps 24:6) Seek the Lord and His strength;
seek His face continually.
12 (Ps 78:43; 103:2) Remember His wonders which He has done,
His wonders and the judgments of His mouth,
13 O seed of Israel, His servant,
O sons of Jacob, His chosen.
14 He is the Lord our God;
His judgments are in all the earth.
15 Remember His covenant forever,
the word He commanded for a thousand generations,
16 (Ge 17:2; 26:3) that He made with Abraham,
even His oath to Isaac.
17 (Ge 35:11-12) He confirmed it to Jacob as a statute,
to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
18 (Ge 13:15) saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan
as the portion of your inheritance."
19 (Ge 34:30; Dt 7:7) When you were few in number,
few indeed, and strangers there,
20 when they wandered from nation to nation,
from one kingdom to another,
21 (Ge 12:17; 20:3) He allowed no man to oppress them;
He rebuked kings on their account,
22 (Ge 20:7) saying, "Do not touch My anointed,
and do My prophets no harm."
23 (Ps 96:1-13) Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.
24 Declare His glory among the nations,
His wonders among all the peoples.
25 (Ps 89:7; 76:7) For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised.
He is to be feared above all gods.
26 (Lev 19:4; Ps 102:25) For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
27 Honor and majesty are before Him;
strength and joy are in His place.
28 (Ps 29:1-2) Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
give to the Lord glory and strength.
29 (Ps 29:2; 110:3) Give to the Lord the glory due His name;
bring an offering and come before Him,
bow down to the Lord in holy array.
30 Tremble before Him, all the earth.
The world also is firmly established; it shall not be moved.
31 (Ps 96:10; 97:1) Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad.
Let them say among the nations, "The Lord is King."
32 Let the sea roar, and all its fullness.
Let the field rejoice, and all that is in it.
33 (Ps 98:9) Then the trees of the forest will ring out before the Lord,
for He is coming to judge the earth.
34 (2Ch 5:13; 7:3) Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
for His mercy endures forever.
35 (Ps 106:47-48) Now say, "Save us, O God of our salvation,
and gather us and deliver us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to Your holy name,
to glory in Your praise.
36 (1Ki 8:15; 8:56) Blessed is the Lord, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting."
Then all the people said, "Amen," and "Praise the Lord."

[7] Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the LORD into the hand of Asaph and his brethren.
[8] Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds
among the people.
[9] Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works. [10] Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
[11] Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.
[12] Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
[13] O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones. [14] He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
[15] Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;
[16] Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;
[17] And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
[18] Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance;
[19] When ye were but few, even a few, and strangers in it.
[20] And when they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to
another people;
[21] He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,
[22] Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.
[23] Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.
[24] Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations.
[25] For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be
feared above all gods.
[26] For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the
heavens.
[27] Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.
[28] Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
[29] Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
[30] Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it
be not moved.
[31] Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say
among the nations, The LORD reigneth.
[32] Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and
all that is therein.
[33] Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the LORD, because he cometh to judge the earth.
[34] O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
[35] And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together,
and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name,
and glory in thy praise.
[36] Blessed be the LORD God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised the LORD.

Worship Before the Ark

37 (2Ch 8:14; Ezr 3:4) So he left Asaph and his brothers
before the ark of the covenant of the Lord to minister
before the ark regularly, as each day required,
38 (1Ch 13:14; 26:10) and also Obed-Edom and his 68 brothers,
while Obed-Edom, the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah were to be gatekeepers.
39 (1Ki 3:4; 1Ch 15:11) And he left Zadok the priest and his priestly brothers before the tabernacle of the Lord at the high place that was at Gibeon
40 (Nu 28:3-8; Ex 29:38-4) 2to offer burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar of burnt offering continually, morning and evening, according to all that
was written in the Law of the Lord, which He commanded Israel.
41 (2Ch 5:13; 1Ch 25:1-6) With them were Heman and Jeduthun
and the rest who were chosen, who were marked by name to give
thanks to the Lord, for His mercy endures forever.
42 Heman and Jeduthun had with them trumpets and cymbals to sound
aloud and instruments for sacred song.
The sons of Jeduthun were appointed to the gate.
43 (2Sa 6:19-20) Then all the people departed, each man to his house,
and David returned to bless his house.

[37] So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Asaph and
his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required:
[38] And Obed-edom with their brethren, threescore and eight; Obed-edom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be porters:
[39] And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the
tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon,
[40] To offer burnt offerings unto the LORD upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he commanded Israel;
[41] And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who
were expressed by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy
endureth for ever;
[42] And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those
that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons
of Jeduthun were porters.
[43] And all the people departed every man to his house: and David returned
to bless his house.

2) Our Daily Bread for 2 May 2026 titled A Good Defense
by Patricia Raybon

1 Peter 5:8-11

8 (Job 2:2; Eph 6:11) Be sober and watchful, because your adversary
the devil walks around as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
9 (Ac 14:22; Jas 4:7) Resist him firmly in the faith, knowing that
the same afflictions are experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 (2Co 4:17; 2Th 2:17; 1Co 1:9) But after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called us to His eternal glory through Christ Jesus, will restore, support, strengthen, and establish you.
11 (1Pe 4:11) To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

[8] Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring
lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
[9] Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
[10] But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect,
stablish, strengthen, settle you.
[11] To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

On the basketball court, our grandson's seventh-grade team did their best to score. Offense was their passion. But after each basket, their coach urged them to hurry back downcourt and play defense, which they were sometimes reluctant to do. Everyone wanted to score, but no one seemed eager to put in the hard work of defending.

The key to the game, the coach taught them, was to anticipate the movements of the opposing players. Stepping in front of a pass or shot would thwart the other team's scoring and help the team win the game.

A defensive strategy that anticipates the moves of our enemy can also help in our spiritual lives. And who is that enemy? Peter's letter to believers in Jesus reminds us: "Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour" (1 Peter 5:8). So "be alert and of sober mind," Peter wrote. Indeed, we're called to "resist" our spiritual enemy, "standing firm in the faith" (v. 9).

Living out an active defense leads us as believers in Jesus to be more effective in our lives and in the productive work we seek to do for His kingdom. Then, if we have spiritual setbacks, the God of all grace
"will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast" (v. 10).
He is the one who establishes us, and who builds our strong defense - in Him.

Reflect & Pray

Where have you "dropped the ball" defensively in your spiritual life?
How can you be more alert and sober-minded?

When I let down my guard in life, please
remind me, O God, of Your protection of me.

Week 1 Knowing God's Word Day 7 - The Cost of Wisdom

Proverbs 4:4,7

Proverbs 4

4 (Pr 7:2; Eph 6:4) He also taught me and said to me,
"Let your heart retain my words; keep my commandments, and live.
7 (Mt 13:44-46) Wisdom is principal; therefore get wisdom.
And with all your getting, get understanding. "

4 He taught me also, and said unto me,
Let thine heart retain my words:
Keep my commandments, and live.
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom:
And with all thy getting get understanding.

Establishing priorities is a popular topic of conversation in our
generation. We carry appointment calendars and attend goal-setting
strategy seminars. We let machines answer our telephones so that
we won't miss any important messages, or so that we can screen calls
before we answer them. We order our lives so that we can "get ahead".
"Getting ahead" in God's kingdom, however, involves other priorities
than the ones we may set for ourselves. "Wisdom is supreme," the
principal thing, says Proverbs 4:7, "Get wisdom. Though it cost
all you have, get understanding."
Wisdom is defined as "an understanding of what is true, right, or lasting." Biblical wisdom is not merely the accumulation of facts about God and his teaching, but the application of those truths of life, taking on
the character of God as we mature in the image of Christ.
Such wisdom may, indeed, come at great cost. Jesus calls us to "lay
down our lives" to follow him - perhaps not literally to die, but to die
to self-centered priorities, to allow the Holy Spirit to establish
his value system in us.
"Keep my commandments and you will live," Proverbs 4:4 says. Real life -
rich, fulfilling, significant, abundant life - comes only through union
with God. The success offered by the world, the acclaim of others, material prosperity and convenience cannot satisfy us once we have tasted
the joy of life with God in Christ.

Application

a) What does "getting wisdom" means to me?

b) What practical changes can I make in my life to help me focus
my attention on the priorities and values of the Lord?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Mark 4:19

19 But the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches,
and the desires for other things entering in choke the word,
and it proves unfruitful.

19 and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches,
and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word,
and it becometh unfruitful.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

When you are Burdened by Doubt

James 1:2 to 8

Faith and Wisdom

2 My brothers, count it all joy when you fall into diverse temptations,
3 knowing that the trying of your faith develops patience.
4 But let patience perfect its work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally and without criticism, and it will be given to him.
6 But let him ask in faith, without wavering. For he who wavers
is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed with the wind.
7 Let not that man think that he will receive anything from the Lord.
8 A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.

2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect
and entire, wanting nothing.
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth
is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Remember God's promises when You pray

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:
Our Father who is in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.
10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;
Your will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.
11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.
12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Ontario has 55% of all of Canada's entire Muslim population. This means that the whole of the Muslim world is represented somewhere in this province. Most Muslims are understandably located along the southern border stretching
from Windsor eastward all the way up to Ottawa. Yet Muslims are constantly resettling in more and more suburban and even small towns of Ontario. Mosques are springing up, and where there are enough gathered, Islamic schools
are starting.
And they're not complacent, either. Many Islamic leaders are energetic in their advancement of Islam in Canadian society. Recently in the Niagara Region,
the local mosque distributed via Canada Post as many as 50000 full-colour brochures on Islam. An that mosque's Facebook page proudly show pictures of "reverts", or white Canadians who have converted to Islam as a result of receiving the flier and engaging with the mosque community. Another town reports Muslims going door-to-door evangelism.

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

Under the Keep Praying page

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and, of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below: blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes. 21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

Footnotes
Acts 2:21 Joel 2:28-32.
- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective discipleship movements among Muslim people.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus. Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the house."

And

Thank you for praying through the
5 Days of Prayer for Sikhs.

"My name is Kam. I'm 29 years of age, and I grew up Sikh. As a teenager,
I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to
cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.

Then a friend invited me to church. As I spent time with Christians
and heard the message of the Gospel, I experienced the
love of Jesus Christ, and it was like nothing I'd known before.
One night I had a dream where I saw Him - a figure surrounded by
light who I knew was Jesus, the light of the world.

As I began to understand the gospel message, I encountered a reassuring and confident solution to the problem of sin. I knew that I needed a solution
to my sin problem, and I gave my life to Christ.

Slowly, God began to heal my broken heart and my addiction.
Nine years have passed, and I am a devoted husband and a father
to two beautiful boys. I grow deeper in love with Jesus each day.

I ask you to continue praying with me, and others around the world, for Sikhs. God is the only one who can draw people to Himself. He works in and through the prayers of His people. I want Sikhs to know the freedom
and healing that is only available through Jesus Christ."

13 (Ro 14:17; 12:12) Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy
and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope,
through the power of the Holy Spirit.

[13] Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that
ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
