• New BBS: The Retro Asylum

    Hi all,

I'm probably insane to be building a new BBS from scratch, so I probably
    belong in the Asylum. ;-)

The Retro Asylum is a new BBS with a focus on retro (and retro-inspired) technology as well as the Western New York/Twin-Tiers region (where we
    are located).

Our (my) main hope with this creation is to connect like-minded folk
with an interest in retro/vintage/antique/obsolete hardware, software,
and other technologies (not just computers, either). I also hope to
connect such folk in my general area, as a regionally-oriented BBS
(though we welcome folks from all over).

Retro Asylum is running home made software under Devuan Linux. There is
still a lot more to add, so the system is very much in its infancy.
Hopefully I'm not opening this up too early. Feature requests are
    welcome.

The Retro Asylum can be reached via telnet to www.turnquist.name
port 2323, or SSH to the same host on port 2222, login as 'asylum'
(no password). SyncTerm works well. Standard telnet/ssh is fine, too.
Your favorite ansi/vt100/linux (or similar) terminal should work.

(I have considered an old-fashioned modem node, but over VoIP, my modem
only connects at 2400bps, no faster, no slower. :-( )

Anyway, if you are so inclined, check us out, introduce yourself and
    connect like it's the 80's.

Very cool! Not sure if you saw my post about them, but there are several modern custom-made BBSes running today! Mutiny:Community, NE-BBS, Kludge, Clackerworks, and Level 29. The guy that made NE-BBS is working on one for the Atari 8bit, too. Will definitely check yours out and add it to the list.
