    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Tennessee Board of Parole made a final
    decision in TaDaryl ShippAs parole case on Monday.

    Shipp was convicted in the 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer in what is
    known as the oJob Corps Murder.o He is currently serving life in prison.

    Slemmer was killed in 1995 by Christa Pike and Tadaryl Shipp(May
    Martinez)

    Earlier this month, a parole review hearing took place at Northwest Correctional Complex. During the hearing, board member Tim Gobble voted
    to deny ShippAs bid for parole, citing the seriousness of SlemmerAs
    murder. He also recommended that ShippAs parole case be reviewed again
    in October 2030.

    On Monday, the board made its final decision to decline parole. Four
    board member votes were needed to reach a final decision.

    The board also modified GobbleAs recommendation following the hearing to review ShippAs parole case in October 2031.

    To improve the chances of parole at his next hearing, the board
    recommended that Shipp complete programming as recommended by his
    oStrong Ro assessment and maintain positive institutional behavior.

    The other person convicted in SlemmerAs murder, Christa Pike, is set to
    be executed on Sept. 30, 2026. Currently, she is the only woman on death
    row in Tennessee.
