The case against Richard Allen was (still is) abysmal.
The prosecution did an excellent job of *Proving*
that Richard Allen was telling the truth!
After the murders the police called for anyone who
had been in the area, any potential witness, to
step forward, talk to them. And Richard Allen did.
He was in the area, just as many others were, and
he contacted the police just as they had asked, as
other citizens had. Yet a major part of their case
against him was evidence establishing that his
car had been in the area that day... precisely as
he stated... precisely the same as the cars for
everyone else who had been there.
So they proved he was telling the truth. And this
was entered in court as "Evidence" that he
murdered two girls...
Did I mention that it took them five years to
identify it was his car, even though he already
said he was there, and they could rule out
anyone else because his was the one of that that
make/model/color in the community?
It took them five years to count all the way up
to 1.
